Not many people know me. It's honestly hard to even know myself. That's pretty much how my simple life goes. I am currently living with Mama Dee. She's not my grandma. She's actually not even related to me at all either. She's just an old lady who owns a bakery, and by grace, found me by myself, alone, and took me in. I've lived with her ever since I was 3 years old. Things could have taken a turn in my life for the worse if it weren't for her. And I'm eternally grateful for that.

I have never met my real parents. And if I did, I don't remember it. I don't even know my real last name. That's why Mama Dee gave me one. "Solane. Solane Royal.", she told me, "You're extraordinary and you don't even know it." And she was right. I didn't know it, and I still don't.

Then, I hear my name. "Solane? Could you please close the shop up for me? I'm feeling a little off. When you're done, supper will be waiting for you at home," Mama says in a sweet voice with a hint of her British accent still visible. "Sure thing Mama. I can walk home. Go ahead and take the car." I hold out the keys and Mama takes it. " Thank you, my little pumpkin. Are you sure you'll be fine walking?" I nod and Mama smiles a genuine smile at me before she leaves through the back door of the store. The door takes it's sweet time shutting quietly behind her.

Half an hour passes by. Once all the tables are clean and the floors are mopped, I take off my apron and place it carefully into the laundry bin. It was already considerably full, but I was too tired to get that cleaned up as well. Grabbing my purse, coat, and umbrella, I lock all the doors and start on my way home. The sun is hidden behind the clouds as it had been all week. Rain drizzles down on what's left of the trees. I feel each drop of water moisten my face as it falls over me.

Even though the day seems gloomy, I'm content. What more can I ask for? I have someone who is willing to look after me with no questions asked. I have a place to stay, everything a grown woman would need, and I'm about to graduate high school with a full ride to an Ivy League college. I have great friends and so many amazing talents. I don't need anything else.
