"Boss. The cops are reporting where that girl was last seen. Somewhere up by a rest stop. Something about a telephone booth," Neal says very confidently.
Neal, Nickson, Faine, and I all sit in the car. I'm at the wheel. I know exactly where those delinquents are. There are only a few rest stops Jeremy knows and trusts.
We have been driving for a day prior. After a few more hours, a conversation starts in the car. "I have a good idea of where he might hit next," I mention.
The rest of the idiots in the car wait for me to tell them what they don't know. Without Jeremy, I have become the new boss. I start to run things on my own.
As of now, Jeremy is not considered a part of the gang. And because he's an outside source who knows too much, of course me and my men have to take him out. Especially when Harrison wants him dead too.
"He's headed to that abandoned house we came across and hid in when the cops were trailing us. The one we were in before we got here."
Faine nods his head in remembrance. "Yeah I remember that house. It was nice. I took a few pieces of jewelry. And by a few, I mean the whole set of them." Faine laughs. Can he get any more annoying? I'm about to shoot his freaking head off.
"What are we gonna do when we get there? What's the plan?" Nickson wants the details. So I give it to them.
"We are gonna take the shortcut to the house and meet them on the road. Neal, you set up the spike strip in the trunk on the road. There's only one way to that house. When their tires pop, Nickson and Faine, you get the girl and knock her out. But make sure you don't fucking kill her. Harrison wants her alive. And Jeremy? He's all mine. I'm gonna take him out. I want to give him a slow and painful death. After that, you guys make it look like an accident. Like he killed himself."
The rest of the boys follow the plan as I say it and give it time to process in their minds.
"That bastard is lucky I don't just torture him long term. Keep him in cage. No food, no water. Let him really kill himself."
"Wait, but Phil, why are we killing Jeremy again? He's a great leader for the gang. And what does that girl have to do with anything?"
How dare Faine open his goddamn mouth and let those words come out. I step on the breaks so quick that everyone in the car nearly jumps out of their seats and flies through the windows.
"I suggest you stop talking before I kill you instead."
Faine's mouth immediately silences and his face goes blank.
For the rest of the hours, we continue driving until we finally reach a good place to set up our trap.
