"Umm... maybe we should sit in my car and give them privacy... just for a while?" I suggest.
All their heads turn to face me as if they hadn't noticed I was standing here the whole time.
"Stella... Oh my god. She looks just like Solie...."
I can feel all their eyes cutting into my skin. It makes me uncomfortable. My voice becomes very low.
"Who are you?" the girl I assume is Stella asks me.
I open my mouth to speak but my words get stuck in my throat and can barely make it out.
"Umm... well, my name is Sharon..."
"Speak up, girl. We can't hear you," Mel shouts.
"I'm Sharon. Solane is my sister..."
The girls' mouths drop. The three men all watch in confusion. "Yeah... I'm going to wait in the car," one says.
"Not possible. Solie was abandoned."
"Yes. I know that. I was there when it happened. I mean, I wasn't there there, but, I was technically there."
Stella folds her arms over her chest and cringes her eyebrows. "Wow. You're good. You're really good. What company are you with? A news reporter hired you?"
I'm actually offended by her comment. "I don't know what you want me to tell you. I'm actually her sister. Well... I'm pretty sure I am."
Mel laughs. "You don't really seem super confident about your answer." She turns to speak to Stella. "Girl, we need to update Solie. Like, now." She walks closer to Solane and Jeremy and screams obnoxiously, "Solie! Bitch! We have a problem! Get your tounge out of this nigga throat and come see!"
I'm surprised at the language all these people are using. I mean, I'm use to it, but I guess I just never imagined Solie hanging around the swearing type.
Solane, Jeremy, and Mel all walk back over to Stella and I. Mel seems like the really outgoing one in the group. "Solie, this girl claims to be your sister. Is that even possible?!"
"Melissa, calm down," Stella cautions.
I interrupt them. "Well, if the looks don't already give it away, I have something else that might confirm it." I walk to my car, opened the front glove compartment, and pull out a golden bracelet. It's the most sentimental item I own. I cup it in my palm and bring it over to Solane.
"If you want... we can get blood tests done if you want like... solid and official evidence."
She takes it from my hands suspiciously and waits a minute before examining it. Then, she places one hand over mouth and her breathing gets heavier.
She looks up at me. "Dear Sharon, stick together. Dear Solane...."
I recognize the saying and Solie and I finish saying it together. "It's forever,"
"My mom... our mom use to say that to us everyday.... Before our dad died. After that, she just.... Lost herself. That's actually how I lost you... "
Solie watches me with this spark in her eyes. Then she just hugs me out of nowhere.
"I just have one question," Solie asks me.
"Yeah, go ahead."
"What's our last name?"
I smile. Her question makes me laugh a little. "I mean, I don't think you'll like it.... But, it's Pierce."
Solie squeezes her face jokingly. "Solane Pierce. Has a nice ring to it."
We both laugh.
"So like... are you gonna introduce us?" Melissa mocks.
Solane rolls her eyes and giggles. "Guys, can we just cherish this right now? I got my two best friends back, I found my sister... or... she found me, one that I didn't even know I had, and the love my life found his way back to me even after the stupid decisions I made."
"Very stupid," Jeremy adds.
"Hey, don't blame me. You did that to yourself. And if you ask me, I wouldn't have even made it back home or had given you a reason to have to find me if I didn't go with Andre anyways."
He rolls his eyes before giving me a kiss on the cheek. Then, Solie looks over at the other two boys who've been standing around listening the whole time. "Come here! Why are you hiding? You're part of this love circle too."
At first, they hesitate, but eventually they join in on the forming group hug. Even the one who left to go sit in the car.
"But Faine, where's Phil? Where's Jay?"
"Man, Jay got his ass into jail. Got caught selling drugs. But Phil, I don't even know where he is. Last time I saw him, he was planning your death."
Solie's head shoots in Jeremy's direction at those words. "Relax Solie, I'm going to be fine. Now let's get out of here. It's about to hit midnight soon."
I cough to get the attention on me. "Yeah... problem. There are eight of us and only five of the seats."
"We can take my car."
"No!" I scream a little too loud. "Sorry, it's just that.... Those two other guys, they rigged it. When you start the engine, it's gonna explode."
Solie steps in the middle of everyone. "No problem. Jeremy drives, I passenger, and Sharon, Stella, and Melissa can sit on top of the guys."Two of the men look at each other with a grin and smile. It makes me even more uncomfortable. It's probably noticeable because the last guy comes up to me and says, "Hey. I'm Faine. You can sit on my lap. I'm not a pervert or anything so you don't have to worry about me touching you and freaking you out." Faine has a really chiseled face. His eyes are sparkling and his hair seems to have been well groomed. If I had ever seen him walking across a street, I would not have guessed he was part of a gang. Rather, he looked like an upcoming business man. I practically drool while examining his defined features.
"Does that sound okay?" He smiles showing off his pearly, white, perfectly arranged teeth. I take a breath and nod. I'm gonna be sitting on this super hot guy for like an hour! This must be the most exciting thing I'm ever going to do in my entire life.
All of us make our way into the car and Jeremy begins to start driving us back home.
