Disclaimer : The day I own Harry Potter will be the day I stop loving Kim Seokjin (which is never going to happen).
Dedicated to the one and only James Potter because it's his birthday today. (That gif is a real blessing, I tell you.)

Chapter 26
She stepped in front of the ancient looking mirror. But she didn't see herself in the reflection. In fact, the girl in the reflection looked a lot like her, only that she was older. And next to her stood a boy - no, a man! - she noted in surprise - with auburn hair and sparkling brown eyes, his features all too familiar to her.
"What do you see?" he asked, his voice a low whisper close to her ear.
"I - I..." she stammered, "I see myself as a famous magizoologist."
Turning to him with what she assumed is a confident smile, she saw his eyebrows raised.
"Do you know what this is?" he asked.
She shook her head.
"The mirror of erised." he said.
Lily closed her book and looked up. The common room was mostly empty, save for the Marauders, Marlene, Mary and a few others. James and Remus were playing Wizard chess, Sirius and Peter were playing Exploding Snap, Marlene was trying to braid Sirius's hair (unsuccessfully) and Mary was reading the Witch Weekly.
"What is the mirror of erised?" Lily asked to no one in particular.
James and Remus, who were sitting the closest to Lily, looked up from their game.
"It's a mirror that shows our deepest desires." James answered almost immediately, "The one thing we want the most in life."
"How did you know that?" Remus asked, surprised.
"I've read that book before." James replied.
By now, the others were also listening in on their conversation.
"What do you think I'll see, Pete?" Sirius asked, pulling his knee to his chest and rocking back and forth. He looked oddly like a five year old stuck in the body of a teenager.
"Er... Maybe you'll see yourself as the Minister of Magic?" Peter said.
"Nah." Marlene said, "He'll see himself as the owner of all the motorcycles in the world, leading a rebellion of blood traitors."
Sirius turned to look at her with raised eyebrows, an amused kind of smile on his face. "And what will you see, Mademoiselle Mckinnon?"
"I'll see my life without Sirius Black in it. A peaceful and perfect life."
Sirius's smile grew into a grin. "That is not going to happen, sweetheart."
"I know." Marlene said, shaking her head and pretending to be sad, "But a girl can always hope, right?"
"Moony will see a chocolate mountain." Peter said and Remus laughed.
No. Remus will see himself with someone who loves him.
"No." James said, "Moony will see a girl who will accept him for what he is."
Lily turned to look at James in surprise. Their eyes met and he smiled, almost as if he could read what's on her mind.
"Well, maybe..." Remus said.
The others continued talking but Lily had zoned out.
What will I see if I look in that mirror?
