*2 weeks later*
Francis's POV:I've seen Piero so happy lately it even scared me. Maria and I were really happy to see our brother finally move on, relationship wise. Even Mamma was loving the fact of seeing Piero this happy with Luna, whom she also loved.
"So I heard that there will be a carnival coming this weekend, anyone wants to come with me?" I announced at dinner.
My entire family, including Luna, Perla and Maxim were here. Gianluca had stayed in Abruzzo and ever since the wedding, we haven't seen or heard anything about him. Ignazio, well, he stayed with us for a week but decided to help out his sister at the pizzeria. Piero and María were in contact with him but I wasn't.
I think I heard them say he would come visit before Luna and Perla left back to the US. They had told us that there was some paperwork to be done so they could start their 3rd year of university.
So they would be leaving earlier than expected. This summer had been the blast so why not finish their summer with a little Italian carnival day.
At the moment, everyone was talking all at once until Mamma hit her cup with a fork. "Attenzione! I want to say that you guys will be in charge of the house for this weekend. Franz, remember that you Zia called and needs some help with the moving." She told everyone, including me.
"What?!" Maria exclaimed.
"Why didn't you tell us?" Piero whinned.
"You didn't tell them?" Mamma asked me. I shook my head in response and she kind of glared at me in an ugly way.
"We will be out for a week, and will leave both of you in charge." Pappa said as he pointed towards Piero and I.
I nodded while Piero just shooed it away and nodded. "You boys better take care of each other and Mariagrazia too." Mamma said.
"It's not the first time you guys have left us alone and taking care of each other. We know how to behave." I answered but kept eating my pasta.
"Yes we know, but since you brought the carnaval up, we thought you could go just for a little bit then come back. It's not good to be out late, specially if we are not going to be here." Pappa said and I just rolled my eyes.
I was so used to this I could tell you their speech from start to finish by memory. "We will Pappa, you guys don't worry. Anyways, have we ever gotten in trouble for doing something bad while you guys weren't here?" Maria said. Piero and I nodded like crazy, showing our parents she had a point.
"It's true Gaetano. They haven't been in trouble, yet your father is right by just reminding you." Mamma said.
"We'll make sure they behave Mamma Barone." Perla said.
"Yeah, I'll be the snitch before I leave." Luna joked and we all laughed.
"Okay, I'm more at ease now." Mamma said and we continued to eat. I was a bit sad of knowing that Luna and Perla had to leave so soon, and by soon I mean next week, but I know they have their lives in America.
*Next Day*
Piero's POV:"Ciao Mamma! Ciao Pappa! Be safe!" I shouted as Francis and I finished helping them put the luggage in the trunk.
"Bring me something!" Mariagrazia shouted and we laughed. We were by ourselves since Maxim took the girls out for lunch.
They had said their goodbyes to them earlier so now it was time for our farewell. The small black Audi disappeared around the corner and we headed inside.
