Luna's POV:
"No! Not that one!" I heard Ignazio yell to Gian behind me. I laughed at the way these two were acting while cooking.
"Who was it Francis?" Gianluca asked and I looked up.
"It was Piero." He looked at me while saying that and I saw some worry in his eyes. "He called to say that he'll be bringing more than one bottle of wine."
"Great! I guess we'll spend the night drinking." Gianluca said and went back to his place in the stove.
I squished the dough in my hands one last time before I continued the next step. Francis walked behind me but I turned on time and stopped him. "You can't lie to me Francis." I whispered to him.
His eyes widen and then he sighed. "He's a bit paranoid that Esther could come and do something to us... well you more."
I sighed in worry and nodded for him to go finish what he was doing. He understood and left. After a while, my chest began to hurt and my breathing was increasing.
I washed my hands and went to the bathroom under the stairs. I tried to breathe in calmly but somehow I couldn't. I splashed some water on my face and that seemed to work.
When I got out, Francis suddenly pulled me to the entrance of the house. "He was freaking out when he called. He mentioned that he found a note from her in the windshield."
"Wait, so Esther IS here?" I asked. "No wonder I'm feeling this way. I have a really bad feeling. Oh! I just hope he's driving safely back right now."
"I told him that before we hung up. And I know he is, so don't you worry. Let's trust in him." Francis said and hugged me in reassurance, but something was still off. I felt it.
*3 hours later*
"I told you I had a bad feeling. He hasn't replied my messages or any of our calls." I said over to the rest of them.
"Maybe he found an old friend of his and is just talking with that person." Ignazio said.
"Yeah, he tends to do that a lot. If I were you I would just wait a few minutes more." Maria said.
I bit my fingernails in anxiety as I heard everyone just act like nothing. I decided to get up from the table and go to Piero's room to change.
I put on some jeans and an over sized pink with lilac striped shirt and some white Converse, unplugged my cellphone and shoved it on my small purse. As I went down the stairs I heard Francis say that he was going to check if Piero is in town.
"I'll go with you. I also have to go buy something at the pharmacy." I said as I stepped down.
"Alright, we'll be back soon. Let us know if he comes first than us." Francis said and everyone nodded. He let me get out first and I got in his car. The ride was silent, not the awkward kind of silent but worried silent.
The road was wet but it had stopped raining. A few minutes later, we got to the town but the first stop we did was at the liquor store. We didn't see his car nearby so Francis got off to ask the counter guy. I was sitting impatiently in his car and looked around the parking lot to see if there was any sign of him.
I got off the car to see on the stores behind and there was nothing. An ambulance siren began to sound in the distance and for some reason it gave me chills. It even gave me goosebumps. Just as I saw the ambulance pass by, Francis called my name.
I turned and he noticed I looked terrified. "He'll be fine." He said with a small smile in his face. I tried my best to smile back but I just couldn't.
