Hey y'all, I'm sick XD
Not too sick though, finally going back to school tomorrow.
But since I have a break, let's talk Net Neutrality.
*Holds hands up*
Now, before any of my American readers start freaking out-
Please take a deep breath before you start freaking out.
Yes, today the FCC voted to reappeal the 2015 Net Neutrality Act brought up by the Obama administration.
But this is only the first battle within the war for Net Neutrality.
Meaning- it isn't over yet.
(So y'all running around screaming like a chicken with yer head off can take a chill pill now.)
It isn't over because Congress still has a say in this.
Congress can still overrule this appeal in many ways (not naming them all cuz yeah, too lazy XD)
That and-
It's going to take several months for new laws/rules to be set in place to replace the rules/laws that Net Neutrality had set in place.
Not to mention no cable/internet company is going to be stupid enough to start charging/blocking right off the bat.
They have a lot to lose after all.
So yes, at the moment net neutrality is at stake, and we have lost a battle.
But the war isn't over yet.
We can still win.
So start contacting your fellow Congress reps.
Let them all know over 300 million American citizens won't just sit by and let their right to a "free internet" by smashed by 3 people.
(Or start building a shelter to protect yourselves from Civil War 2: Angry Americans vs. Money Hungry Companies)
Regardless, for now we're fine.
So tag your friends and let them know they can relax for now.
