The next Hokage had been chosen to take Tsunade's place. It was evident in most peoples' eyes that she wouldn't be coming back to the living hence her comatose state. But Shizune still had faith, and so did many of the Jōnin in the Village that she'd return to reclaim her spot as the Hokage. But back to the Sixth Hokage, Shimura Danzō took the position ambitiously and eagerly. Many people were outraged at the idea, but no one stood against Danzō since he now possessed control of both the Anbu Black Ops and the Root, and both awaited his command.
The Uchiha especially seemed particularly irritated with Danzō becoming the Hokage. Fugaku, since he had rightful custody over the Uchiha in both the Anbu and he Root, withdrew the vast majority of them. However, at least three were left in each division, amongst them being Shisui in the Anbu and Itachi in the Root. Though Danzō, also thoroughly irritated with Fugaku's withdrawal, begrudgingly accepted what happened, he couldn't do anything to counteract it until he had permission from the Village Elders—which probably would take a month's time at the least.
Danzō's first order of business, now that he was Hokage, was to accept the—rather mandatory—invitation to a Five Kage Summit. It was to be held in about four days which was the exact time it was would take to travel there. The reason for it to be held was the discussion of Akatsuki, and how it could be dealt with due to the catastrophe that befell Konohagakure. Also in discussion would be the case of Jinchūriki now that balance had been disturbed. Only Kumogakure and Konohagakure possessed a Jinchūriki now.
I'll take the two best shinobi of the Village, Uchiha Itachi and Uchiha Sasuke. He paused for a moment to think over his decision. Something in Danzō provoked him to think that maybe they weren't the top two. Of course, there's always the actual pairing of Itachi and Shisui... But the latter is out of the question right now, he's too shaken over his carelessly controlled emotions. Danzō thought begrudgingly. He gripped his cane tighter at the thought of going to the Summit without his two aces in the hole. However, it probably wouldn't be too much of a problem; news had spread rather quick about Sasuke's Mangekyō Sharingan. If I'm to get there on time, I should recruit them now. He shifted his arm through his sleeve so it wouldn't be resting in the makeshift sling of the material.
Somewhere else in the Village, Itachi and Shisui were spending time with each other near the Naka River. The sun was still at its peak in the sky and the cool breeze made Shisui's muscles relax slightly. The death of Hagami seemed nonexistent, as if she were away on a mission from them. To him, it felt like Hagami would be back at some time. But Itachi knew that she was gone. Not gone mentally and emotionally, but physically. Though he's accepted it, he didn't hesitate to release the tears he so desperately tries to hold back in public sometimes.
"You know, if it weren't for Hagami, and somehow Danzō took my eye...I wouldn't be here right now." Shisui broke their silence and he walked over to the stone near the cliff's edge.
"What?" Itachi asked somewhat incredulously. "What do you mean by that?" He figured he would get some incitation of this earlier on in his years so now Itachi listened intently.
"On the night that I planned to use the Kotoamatsukami on the entire Uchiha Clan to avert the Coup d'État, Danzō attempted to take my right eye. When he tried and explained to me that my plan wouldn't work, I began to doubt myself when he said that I wouldn't be able to stop it on my own.
"If it weren't for Hagami to intervene and my right eye was taken, I was sure that Danzō would come after the left. In order to prevent this, I would've given you my left eye as a countermeasure and erase my existence through the Naka River." Shisui concluded.
"You even had countermeasures if Danzō succeeded in taking your eye..." Itachi drifted off. "Hagami saved your tail once again." He walked over to place a hand on his dear friend's shoulder.
"I don't know how such a selfless person could exist in such a world." Shisui, despite his condition, chuckled and he looked up to the clear sky. His eyes glassed over when he thought he saw her face appear amongst the clouds. Itachi, who would always stand by his side, squeezed his shoulder and it seemed to tell him that they would get through this, together.
"Oi," a younger man's voice sounded behind the two of them. Itachi snapped around first, his eyes widening when he saw Sasuke standing there. "I figured I'd find you here by the Naka River. It's where the two of you and Hagami would always meet up."
"You're out of the hospital? Already? Shouldn't you be resting up still?" Itachi bombarded Sasuke with questions without really noticing.
"Yes, I'm out of the hospital already. My injuries weren't as bad as I originally thought they were. It was just the shock of the Mangekyō Sharingan as well as chakra exhaustion." Sasuke answered nonchalantly.
"Why aren't you resting?" Itachi asked rather demandingly. Sasuke shot him a halfhearted glare in response but he brushed it off rather quickly.
"Well, I need a favor." Sasuke responded in a stoic tone—Itachi thought he was trying to preserve any sort of dignity he had since Sasuke rarely asked for help. But contradicting Itachi's thoughts, as Sasuke said this, both Naruto and Sakura walked out of the foliage as well. "We've been talking for a while, and since the corpse was reclaimed by Akatsuki, we're thinking that it was about time to make our move against them."

"So, are you going to tell me of this jutsu or not?" Hagami asked as her fingers thrummed against the transparent plane they're sitting on. Fuyu and Aki glanced toward each other and then back at Hagami.
"We will." Fuyu breathed out nervously. "You know of the ultimate Genjutsu of the Uchiha Clan, correct?"
Hagami raised an eyebrow. She was confused as to why her father had asked her of the Uchiha Clan's ultimate Genjutsu. Of course she knew about the Tsukuyomi and its staggering prowess that can damage the mental state. Hagami thought it'd be an obvious answer.
"It's the Tsukuyomi, isn't it? And if not this, then it'd be the Infinite Tsukuyomi that had been performed by the legendary Kaguya. There can't be a more stronger Genjutsu than these two." Hagami narrowed her eyes a little. She was starting to get the impression her parents were trying to play an antic.
"Actually, there is," Aki made Hagami's eyebrows raise in disbelief, "and it's the very one you performed. Though it's not technically more powerful than the Infinite Tsukuyomi or the normal Tsukuyomi, it's definitely one of the most powerful in the supplementary group. It's not use as an offensive jutsu, it's actually more defensive."
"So...if it's..." Hagami trailed off. She didn't know where she was going with her point. "How is it a defensive technique if I'm not even alive? It doesn't make sense."
"Aki also said it was a supplementary jutsu." Fuyu added. "As in, it completes something you're unable to do before; as in it brings back your life in order for you to something you weren't able to do when you're alive."
"I've never studied such a jutsu. I take it's a Kinjutsu? I haven't looked much into many Kinjutsu in the past." Hagami admitted scratching a the nape of her neck.

Well...another cliff-hanger I suppose.
