Part I
Somewhere in Obito, he hesitated for reasons unknown. But it gave Naruto and Sasuke the upper hand, as they left an injury on Obito that wouldn't heal immediately. A large chunk of his right side had been taken out from the katana that Naruto and Sasuke wielded as the Nunoboko shattered.
Then, something startling happened as teal chakra began ripping its way out from earlier. Hagami realized that perhaps because Naruto had formed an individual bond with each that they're able to funnel their will into escaping once Obito was weakened.
"NOW!" Naruto shouted from below. Hagami snapped her eyes down to the tails of Kurama and they too began to stretch to meet the other Bijū as they escaped from Obito's grasp.
Hagami observed the tug-o-war match between the chakra of the Bijū. She realized that Naruto must've not of received chakra from the Ichibi or Hachibi since they're stubbornly swatting at the tails extending from Kurama.
Right as things seemed to turn down because of that, two of Naruto's allies appeared from different directions. She knew the two of them, since they're both Jinchūriki, and that must've made it much simpler to get a grasp on them.
"Don't underestimate the power of the Jūbi's Jinchūriki! I'm the equivalent to the Sage of the Six Paths!" Obito suddenly roared as he whipped around. His grasp on the chakra within him strengthened dramatically, making Naruto's grip slip further away.
It didn't get very far though, as Sasuke manipulated his Susanoo to pull against one of the tails and the Konoha 11 returned to help. It was then that Hagami got back onto her feet, having sat down when they collided earlier, and leapt down to the ground. Shisui and Itachi followed close behind to assist with the tug-o-war.
"Everyone! Grab onto my chakra!" Hagami heard Minato just as a limb of charka stretched past her. Her hands immediately grabbed onto it. A portion of the Allied Shinobi Force was already assisting with this too as Minato actually landed.
"Everyone, we'll do it together on my mark!" Naruto shouted and Hagami's nailed dug into the chakra in preparation. "And...NOW!" He shouted and the entire shinobi force that was present pulled with all of their weight.
Obito's control began to give whilst the shinobi force and Naruto and Sasuke themselves worked to pull against him. He struggled briefly and then gave, and it became a repetitive cycle that did well to exhaust both sides.
Hagami's nails might as well be bleeding now that she was pulling so hard. She heard some of of the shinobi around her tumbling away from how much force they're putting on the chakra tails.
Then, in a last pull, they drew the Jūbi's chakra out along with the rest of the Tailed Beasts that were captured. Hagami fell backward onto the ground, her hands burning too whilst Obito fell to the ground. He returned to his normal state of being, his human form just as Naruto and Sasuke's chakra receded from temporary overuse.
"You kept your promise, Uzumaki Naruto." A voice boomed over the shinobi's cheering. Hagami looked up to the massive figures that now loomed over everyone. The chakra of the Bijū had assumed their true forms since they're drawn out. "And you really rescued us!"
"Right, Son!" Naruto responded and Hagami looked to the amount of tails it possessed. She concluded it was the Yonbi, or Five Tails.
"We were lucky." The Nanabi (Seven Tails) sighed in relief.
"He did it!" Saiken shrieked with happiness.
"For real," Kokuō murmured.
"You're right." Matatabi agreed.
"I'm so glad that we're finally free!" The Sanbi (Three Tails) cheered.
"Hm? Isn't he..." Shukaku peeked over its shoulder. He began reminiscing about how he remembered who Naruto was during his fight against him during the Chūnin Exams.
During this, Hagami had gotten to her feet. Obito didn't fall far away and she was already making her way over to him. She had a few words to exchange whilst he was still alive.
Hagami stopped by his side, staying a few feet away but enough to be within earshot. Obito stared up at her, his eyes limp with defeat. He knew that he's lost, so Hagami knew it was safe for her to speak without being attacked.
"When you first met me, you decided not to kill me. And then you knew I was a traitor the moment I entered the Akatsuki." Hagami began carefully as she kneeled down next to him. He grunted and turned away, but Hagami knew he was listening. "You knew I was a spy, not to mention leaking information as we went on with Tsuki no Me.
"And yet, you didn't kill me. You left me alive, even keeping me concealed for three years as a result." Hagami saw Obito's head snap back toward her. There was regret lingering in his eyes for that, but by now it was faint. "In fact, you trained me, well the other members did at least and you declared us to be in a stalemate, not being able to take each other out even if we wanted to. You kept me alive, why?" Hagami asked.
Obito sat in bitter silence but Hagami waited patiently. She saw the truth and a lie warring in his eyes and eventually he came out with a short answer, "I don't know."
"That's not an answer." Hagami didn't miss a beat as she heard footsteps approaching her from behind. She looked over her shoulder to see Sasuke with his katana drawn and Naruto not too far behind. "Why?" She asked with a little more force.
Obito again didn't respond right away. This time Hagami's eyes searched his more thoroughly and found different things swimming in his eyes. Most of it was conflicting emotions and answers, but a shred of hope and light was also visible.
"Perhaps...it was because you're an Uchiha...and we've both lost something dear to us." Hagami's eyebrows rose. "Despite what you've...done...I made myself believe that you too...wanted to live in a world...where there is no conflict." Obito drew in a sharp breath. "I made myself...believe that you and I had the same...ambitions...because you know as well as I do...that we both hate conflict...
"I believed...that you wanted to...see your family again...and live in a world where you don't have...to endure losing them at such a young...age." Obito drew in another sharp breath and Hagami bit her lip.
"I...I see..." She trailed off just as Sasuke raised his katana. Hagami knew he'd avoid her, but she drew Shisui's tantō from it's sheath for the soul purpose of countering Sasuke's strike.
They clashed, their eyes burning into each other and clashing. Hagami equalled Sasuke's strength even whilst using one arm. The other was out to the side, in case she had to deflect something from Naruto as he was still approaching, so she had time to prepare.
"What. Are. You. Doing?!" Sasuke snapped at her with unbridled rage.
"Sasuke!" Naruto snapped as he stopped beside him. He placed a hand on Sasuke's shoulder and Hagami brought the tantō down. She knew that he wasn't going to strike right now. "Wait."
Hagami turned back around, but she kept the tantō in her hand. She looked down at Obito, and his eyes widened when she saw her raise her arm up. For a second, he thought she was going to kill him.
No... Obito thought distantly.
Hagami brought her arm down in a swift motion. The tantō escaped her hand and Obito shut his eyes, knowing that if Hagami were to kill him, it'd be his way of atonement to her, at least.
But it missed him by a few centimeters, right beside his neck. When he heard it hit, Hagami was standing above him with cold eyes, one of which was blind and Obito could finally see the depth of her pain and loyalty for her Village.
"Not everything can be solved by a dream, the same way as a new reality can't be forged by a shortcut." Hagami reached out her hand, hoping for Obito to turn over a new leaf.
