Part II
Sasuke greeted Hagami, who was sitting on the ridge of the Hokage Monument. He threaded heavily to signal his presence and Hagami shifted her position. Technically she was looking at him, just not physically seeing him.
"Kakashi informed you about the mission right?" Sasuke asked taking a seat beside her.
"He did. It seems that Naruto requested that I tag along with you." Hagami responded. "Let me guess, you found Kaguya's Palace the last time you teleported between dimensions."
"Ah," Sasuke paused when he realized that Hagami has guessed exactly what happened. "Who told you?" He questioned, a light suspicion lingering in his voice.
"Itachi." Hagami chuckled and Sasuke grunted. "When do we leave?"
"I wanted to leave as soon as possible, so whenever you're ready." He answered and Hagami started to get to her feet. "Well, you don't have to get up right now."
"The sooner we start this mission, the sooner we can get back." Hagami retorted. "I have a feeling already that the sooner we start, the less conflict we'll run into...I hope." She began on her way and head Sasuke get up behind her. Before Hagami could even start down the path, Sasuke snapped his hand around her wrist.
"Don't come along if you don't think you can handle this mission. I know you've been on that two-week mission to that illegal bidding arena for different fighters with rare Kekkei Genkai." Sasuke tightened his grip, warning her not to push herself.
"That's the least of our worries, Sasuke." Hagami's voice came off as stern and a little defensive. "If you've finally found the Ōtsutsuki Palace, chances are there are members of the Ōtsutsuki Clan will be present, not to mention evidence that can give us leads on their hideouts on our planet. You'll need my backup, and I'll be coming with you whether or not you accept." A smirk tugged to her lips and she felt Sasuke's grip relax. "After all, I have to protect my younger brother."
---
The chilling air bit through Hagami's cloak and shirt. She hissed pulling it around her tighter as her feet sunk into the snow. The moon illuminated the landscape eerily, though she couldn't see it, and Hagami poised her hand near her tantō. Sasuke trailed not to far in front of her, eyeing the landscape through his Rinnegan.
"Stay close. There are others here." Sasuke kept his voice lowered. They began their way toward the looming structure, or what Sasuke informed was the Ōtsutsuki Castle. "While I look for anything of use or information regarding Kaguya, keep watch over my back. Your senses are sharper than mine, but still be ready. You weren't-"
"I know I wasn't there during your fight with Kaguya." Hagami bit back quietly. "But I'll be fine."
As they entered the castle it seemed more like a fortress or hidden base than anything. The atmosphere brewed a familiar feeling inside Hagami, like she was back in an old Akatsuki base. A shudder ran through her spine and she turned her nose to the broken ceiling. Cold freckles of snow landed on her face as Sasuke shuffled about the open room. He'd stop here and there and then move onto another part of the room. Hagami could imagine him sticking his nose into every crevice looking for clues.
Hagami began walking around as Sasuke continued his own search. Her hands reached for the walls, feeling engravings that she couldn't understand from merely touching them. She grimaced when she heard the rock crumble beneath her touch hence how old it must be. However, despite the rubble falling from her hand, some fell onto her shoulder. From overheard, Hagami suddenly sensed two new chakra sources, one of which was closing into the castle toward Sasuke.
