Truth be told, Hagami didn't know much to begin with about Kabuto. She knew him as a spy, a shinobi, and a traitor, but she knew nothing of his personal life. She never had a reason to try to poke around his background and go behind anyone's back. Hagami had read his body language and actual language up until this point.
Kabuto's body relaxed, knowing that his explanation would be heard. Hagami's body relaxed too as a result, as did Sasuke and Itachi's. However, Shisui remained strong and watched with crimson eyes for any twitch of the muscle alluding an attack.
"I was nobody..." Kabuto murmured, "and had nothing from the very beginning." Kabuto continued on with his background story as a Medical Nin for the war shinobi who needed to be treated. He said that he had been taught Medical Ninjutsu to aid others by one of the orphan heads.
Later, he became apart of the Root under Danzō's request. After having one of the orphan heads taken back, Kabuto was asked to join up as another shinobi used for spying and espionage. Since he was young, he was easily influenced and his personality was as fluid as water. Like his foster mother, Nonō, he was raised to become a spy in every Hidden Village, and every Nation.
It was reasoned that a child with no background would be precious as a tool. With no real connections, it was easily to alter memory and influence with one's objectives.
As Kabuto grew older, he traveled from Kumogakure, Kirigakure, Sunagakure, and Iwagakure. Each time he put up a different façade, all the while maintaining his mission and gathering intel for Konohagakure, or Danzō at the most.
However, during one night whilst Kabuto was still within Iwagakure, there was a planned assault.
---
Kabuto his within the crevices of the rocky landscape. He was almost out of breath as he looked up, waiting for his pursuer to find his location. He glanced out toward the open area and bit the inside of his cheek.
It's no use. I'm surrounded. He thought sensing out all of the chakra sources around him. Instinctively, he looked at his pocket watch. The old rule of the orphanage of being in bed by nine o'clock was still embedded in his brain. If I hadn't messed up, I'd be in bed by now. He thought seeing that the minute hand was five minutes past nine o'clock. It's been five years since I left the orphanage. I wish I could've seen Mother and everyone else one last time...
If it weren't from the reflection of glass from the pocket watch, Kabuto's head would've been split in two by the kunai. He fled the small crevice into the open, rolling on his shoulder as a shadowy figure leapt from the ravine, a kunai in either hand.
However, Kabuto's reflexes kicked in as the shadowy figure closed in. His right arm swung up as he pivoted around. His hand formed a chakra scalpel and he aimed for the diaphragm. The shadowy figure dropped both kunai and let out a grunt of pain. The glasses she had been wearing flew off, broken, and Kabuto threw her over his shoulder onto the hard ground. But he also fell, from the weight distribution he had; throwing the woman over his shoulder also catapulted himself into the ground.
It took a while for the clouds to clear and the moonlight to filter back down.
Kabuto's eyes widened in recognition for the woman he just struck down. When the moonlight his her face, Kabuto was sent into a panic.
"Mother!" He shouted terrified. He scrambled over to her, his emotions rising again and his mind send into a torrent. "No! Why are you here?!" Kabuto didn't hesitate to start healing the deep wound. Don't tell me...you're still on that last mission?!
"Why are you healing my wound?" Nonō asked weakly. "Who...are...you?" She asked when she turned her head to look at Kabuto.
"It's me, Mother!" Kabuto cried out desperately. When he saw Nonō begin to squint, he nearly ripped off his glasses to give to her. In the process, he stopped healing her too. "It's Kabuto! Don't worry, I'll save you!" He hoped as he positioned the glasses over her eyes.
