Chapter Fifty-Four

Ethan, Connor, Kaleb, and I stayed in the hospital for two days after I gave birth. I told Ethan to go home and get a proper sleep because it would be the last one he would get in a while. But he is very stubborn and refused to leave our side. We signed their birth certificates a few hours after they were born. The nurses kept checking up on us almost every hour.

Skip to the day we come home

I was just in the middle of feeding Kaleb when the nurse came in. "How is everything going. Did you guys sleep well" she asked. "Everything is going good they seem to be good. As for sleep I think I got maybe four hours" I said. "I'm sorry to hear that. I think that's just a part of becoming a parent. Just make sure you give yourself time to rest" she said with a smile. She was one of my favourite nurses that's looked after us. She checked up on the twins and wrote stuff down on our chart. "So I'm just going to go and confirm this but if you feel comfortable we might be able to let you guys go home today" she said. "Ok sounds good. Maybe sleeping in my own bed will help" I said while smiling. She walked out of the room to check. "I hope we get to go home" I said to Ethan. "Me too these hospital beds suck" he said holding Connor and rocking him side to side. About ten minutes later the nurse came back in. "Good news. You guys are aloud to go home at 11:00" she said and handed me forms. "So this is you release paperwork. It needs to be filled out before you leave" she said and smile. "If you have any questions while you are at home there is a number in this pamphlet" she said and handed me the folded piece of paper and walked out of the room. Once Kaleb was done eating I put my bra back on. "Can you take him please" I asked holding Kaleb so ethan could grab him. Once my shirt was on I began filling out the forms. Having twins meant double the paperwork. I groaned. "Do you want me to fill it out" ethan offered. "No it's ok" I said continuing to write. Ethan's writing wasn't the neatest so letting him do it wouldn't be the best. At 10:30 we started to get the twins dressed. I got Connor ready and Ethan got Kaleb ready. We put them in their car seats and bundled them up seeing as how it was snowing outside. At 11:00 the nurse came in to collect our paperwork and wish us the best. I waited by the door while Ethan pulled up the car. We didn't want the twins getting to cold. We put them in the back seat and Ethan got in the drivers seat and I sat in the passenger seat. It took about twenty minuets to get home ethan was driving extra careful. I could tell. We pulled into the parking garage neither of the twins had stated crying yet. When we took them up into the appointment we took them to the nursery. We took them out and laid them in their cribs. We turned on the baby monitor and left the door open a crack. "Babe I'm going to to have a shower" I said walking into our bathroom. Ethan kissed me before I did so. "I love you" he said as I shut the door. Having a warm shower was so nice and getting all the hospital scents off me. When I got out I threw my wet hair into a bun and brushed my teeth. After I put on some sweat pants and a tank top. Ethan went to have a shower after me so I put the baby monitor on my nightstand and laid in our unmade bed. I felt like I had so much to do but I was so tired that I just pulled the covers over me and fell asleep. I woke an hour or so later to dead silence. I swear ethan is probably already up to something with the twins. I got out of bed and grabbed my phone. I walked down the hallways towards the boys room. The door was halfway open. I stood in the doorways peeking in. I saw Ethan sitting with both of them in his arms. He wasn't wearing no shirt which made him ten times more attractive. He was talking to them in a quiet calm voice. I truly loved him and our boys and I was happy that this 'mistake' happened. If it didn't I wouldn't have ended up with an amazing fiancé and two beautifully handsome baby boys. I was truly blessed. I watched him hold the boys and talk to them for a little. When he stopped and just sat in the rocking chair with them I walked in. "They will definitely get all the girls" I said smiling and taking Connor from his arms. "I won't doubt it" he said with a small smile. I could tell he was tired. We laid the boys in their cribs and went back to our room. Even though it was only 2:00 we were both exhausted. We climbed into our bed and put the baby monitor on our beside table. "I love you" I said gently playing with Ethan hair. "I love you too" he said and kissed me. We both fell asleep quickly just because we hadn't slept the past two nights.
