Chapter Eighty-Six

It started off as any other day. Ethan and I got the kids ready for school. Connor and Kaleb were both in grade nine while Olivia was in grade seven. Ethan drove the kids to school this morning so I could get dressed. I did my usual routine, get dressed, and do my hair and makeup. I was just finishing up my makeup when I heard the door open. It was obviously Ethan getting back from dropping off the kids so I just kept doing my makeup. He came into my makeup room and sat on the extra chair that I had. "We have a problem" he said sighing as he sat down. I stopped blending my eyeshadow and turned to face him. "What is it" I asked. "So after I dropped off Liv, I went to drop of the boys. When they got out of the car the principal was doing the crosswalk. I rolled down my window to say good morning to him after the boys had already gone inside. We talked for a bit then he told me that the boys have been skipping or going in late to most if not all of their classes. He also said that they are failing their classes but they are both close to it" he said. I didn't know what to say my jaw just dropped. "Are you sure he was talking about Connor and Kaleb" I asked. "Yes he definitely was because he said hey mr.dolan I was meaning to phone and schedule an opponent to talk about Connor and Kaleb" he said which made me frown. "What are we going to do" he asked running his hands though his hair. "Well first of all we need to take away all their video games and their phones. Then we need to help them finish work that they haven't complete. Their grades need to go up" I said seriously. Ethan and I talked while I finished my makeup then he helped me do chores around the house seeing as he didn't have anything to do today. We did all the kids laundry first then we put them all away. Ethan was hanging up the boys shirts while I was putting away their socks, pants, shorts, and underwear. I was putting socks in their drawer when I found something. "You've got to be f*cking kidding me" I said. "What" Ethan asked stopping what he was doing and walking over to me. He wrapped his arms round me. "What's wro.." he stopped when he saw what was in my hands. He let go and let me face him. "What are we going to do? Where did they even get a vape" I asked. I looked though all their drawers and found a small bag of weed aswell. "E" I said showing him the bag. He paced back and forth. "They are literally clones of me in high school" he said taking the weed from my hands. "What do you mean? You didn't do..wait you did f*cking weed. Why the f*ck didn't you tell me" I said raising my voice a bit. "Why didn't I tell you? Are you seriously asking me that" he asked. "Well when did you. Babe you should have told me" I said trying to calm down a bit. "Grade nine and Ten ad half way though grade eleven" he said looking down. "Wait were you high when you had sex with me" I asked. "I was mostly drunk but I did smoke some weed that night. Amy I swear after I meet you I stopped. I haven't done it since. I didn't want to lose you" he said. My eyes started to water. "E, what are we going to do" I asked breaking down into tears. "Everything will work out. I promise" he said hugging me and rubbing his hand though my hair. Ethan and I talked all day until we had to go pick up the kids. "Lets talk to them when we get home. Not in the car" I said just before the boys and Olivia got in the car. He nodded his head. I gave him a slight smile then grabbed his hand. "Hi mom, Hi dad" Olivia said as she hopped into the car. The boys both got innovative either side of Liv not saying a word. "How was school" I asked. "Goo.." Olivia started but was cut off by both the boys. "Stupid, Dumb" they both say looking out the window. "Why what happened" I asked turning to look at them. "Oh umm we just forgot something at home" Connor said. I looked at Ethan knowing exactly what they were taking about. "Why didn't you just phone me, I would have brought it to you" I said. "Umm oh yah it wasn't that important" Kaleb said and gave Connor the death stare. "Well if it wasn't that important why did it ruin your day" I asked. "Can we just not talk about it" Connor said. "Yah I guess" I said. "Well Liv how was your day" I asked. "Good. Guess what...."Liv could talk for hours. The rest of the car ride consisted of her telling mostly Ethan and I how amazing her day was and what she did. When we pull into the driveway and the car stopped both of the boys jumped out. "Hey boys. Connor, Kaleb. Dad and I need to talk to you" I said. "Mom can we talk later"Kaleb asked. "Actually no it's serious" I said. Ethan helped Liv get her bag and they followed me into the house. "Hey Livy can you go to your room for a while. Don't worry you're not in trouble dad and I just need to talk to Connor and Kaleb" I said. She just nodded her head and ran up the stairs. The boys were sitting at the table waiting for us. They both had their hoods up and their heads down. "Their high" Ethan whispered into my ear. We both sat down across the table from them. "Boys. We need to talk" I said. "About" Connor said keeping his head down. "Well lets start by you guys actually looking at us" I said. They both looked up but i still couldn't see their eyes. "And take off your hoods" Ethan said. "Ok you said you guys wanted to talk not make eye contact" Connor said. "Well when you talk to someone you usually look at them" I said. "This is BS" Kaleb whisper. "Believe me this isn't BS. This is"Ethan said slamming the vape and bag of weed on the table. "Where did you guys get this" I said tears starting to form in my eyes. "Why were you going though our s*it" Connor said. "Okay first of all we weren't but we were putting away your guys laundry. Note your sock and underwear drawer isn't the best hiding spot" Ethan said. "You guys are f*cked up"Connor continued. We came to the conclusion that the boys would being getting homeschooled for the rest of grade nine and we would see about grade ten. They got mad and stormed off to their room. "That went way better then I took it when was their age" Ethan said. "What did you do" I asked. "I ran away hooked up with a few girls, got high and drunk. Then I came home" he said. "You're right at least they are in their room" I said with my eyes widen. I was kind of mad that Ethan didn't tell me he did weed and vaped when he was younger. I was also mad that he hooked up with other girls because his parents tried to help him. Whatever I guess it was in the past and he didn't tell me because he didn't want to ruin our relationship. His head was somewhat in the right place. A few month later the boys were completely clean and in a healthy state of mine. They started to make YouTube videos just like Ethan and Grayson to focus on something positive. I'm such a proud mom. I love my kids with all my heart and I know that they will always do the right thing in the end.
