I was sleeping soundly, dreaming about kidnapping Luke Hemmings with his lip ring on. The plan was to capture him while they were singing American idiot on stage. Although, this scheme would ever be just a drawing if it weren't because of the help from my fellow potato legions. Suddenly, Luke came out of the stage with the other pretty Aussie boys while carrying their music instruments. We were about to pounced at the tallest guy, until the doorbell annoyingly rang through my ears."Someone get Luke..." I grumbled, snuggling beneath my cover.
Just a few seconds passed, the doorbell rang again, "Can somebody get Luke, please? Potato number one!" I called.
The house went silent for a moment and I sighed with a smile, pulling my pillow closer to my face. A few tic tocs on the clock, the doorbell rang once more, Great!
I groggily sat up with a grunt, before stomping my way to the door.
"You'd rather be Luke or I swear I'll break your neck." I muttered, while opening the door.
"Good morning." The very-much-familiar face of Chase stood in front, a little like yesterday, but with a laptop casing.
It should feel awkward being around him again, but for some reason, it didn't. Somehow I blame my fuzzy head on this one.
"Hi, thanks for ruining my morning. If you're looking for a place to die, you have come to the right place." I non chalantly spoke.
"Oh, I'm sorry..."
I sighed, "Let's not put this on replay, shall we? What are you doing here?"
"Well, I have these papers.."
I cut him off, "It's Saturday."
"Yes, I know. But Linda asked me to.."
"--and it's early in the morning."
"Hey, I know, okay? I'm fully aware with that. I just have to deal with this ASAP, because I have some more stuffs to do later this day."
"So?-- Let's not forget, we still have Sundays before Mondays!" I added, totally forgetting that I hadn't peeked on the mirror nor tested my breath.
"Nikki, let me finish talking." Chase said, taking a paper bag on his side which I hadn't noticed earlier.
I kinda want to mess with him more but he looked so stressed. What is it now?
"Okay, as I was saying--" He stopped talking halfway when I let out a yawn, "I hate you."
"Oh, don't tell me that. I hate you more."
"I can tell."
"Well?"
"Can we get inside first?" He asked.
"Nope." I simply answered.
"Come on, it's the right place for me to die, right?"
"Fine." I released a heavy sigh, motioning him to get inside.
I waited as Chase entered before closing the door behind.
"Wait here." I said, rushing upstairs.
I knocked on my aunt's door before opening it when no one answered, "Aunt Crissa?"
She wasn't inside. The room has been redesigned and some old stuffs installed before were already trashed. This actually was the first time I peeked inside my grandparents room after they died. My eyes played back on their role but I slowly exhaled before inhaling heavily to stop my tears from falling again. I closed the door, remembering I had an unexpected visitor.
"Chase? Give me a minute to change, please? And try not to touch anything!" I yelled from upstairs.
"Got it!"
I swiftly brushed my teeth and took a fine lazy day outfit before donning them. Afterwards, I looked myself on the mirror and pampered a bit, then let my hair untied.
"Hey, have you had your breakfast?" I politely asked Chase as I approached the kitchen.
"No, I'm fine. Thanks." He responded, skimming the papers on his hands.
After a couple of minutes, I emerged from the kitchen handing two hot coffees.
"Jeez, that's a lot of papers. Just in time to heat up the fireplace." I punned,
"I was thinking the same thing. Anyway, remember yesterday we were supposed to do the play on history?"
"Wait, you guys didn't do it?"
He shook his head, "Mr. Blaze didn't let us do it. We were incomplete."
"Here, take a sip." I handed him a coffee before sitting down.
He took the coffee, thanking me before he took a sip. He placed it on top of the coffee table and proceeded on the papers.
"Okay, so.. Mr. Blaze gave us no exemptions to do the play on some other day, as usual, he gave us an assignment instead."
"Heard that." I nodded in agreement.
"Technically speaking, I was supposed to be doing this part with Stacy bu---"
"Why are you telling me this?" I asked in confusion.
He groaned, "Could you stop interrupting me? Again, I couldn't do this alone with her since nothing will happen if she's my partner."
"Ohhhhh, so like, you're asking me to do it instead?" I paused, "What a smart kid." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.
"Hey, I just collected some researches, okay? Plus, you get to use my laptop so, isn't that a dream come true? It still got my fingerprints on it from last night." He wiggled his eyebrows, smiling wickedly.
"Dream on, asshole." I muttered.
Chase chuckled, "Well, going back..Linda says she's occupied this day 'till tomorrow, but she'll find some time to collect our works for her to compile." He paused, "Our topic is about the empires in the ancient world."
I slowly nodded, "Okay?"
Chase responded by handing me his laptop, "Shall we start?"
