CHAPTER 16

Everything seems like a nightmare. The pain on the body, the loss of the parents, the blood on the head. She woke up and looked around but nothing's there. It feels like she does not have anything to see. She's sure she did open her eyes but she saw nothing.

"If this is just a dream, I don't want to dream this, I want to wake up, I know my parents are not dead, this is just..a dream.." She closed her eyes back and cried.

Hongbin rushed to the hospital after he got a call from Heeyoung, or to be exact from a person who was at the accident site and saw her phone at her left hand. He was holding his tears and kept hoping that they will be fine. But as soon as he arrived at the emergency room, he saw two bodies were pushed to a room where he believed where they handled the dead bodies. His heart was beating so fast and was shocked when a doctor patted him at the shoulder.

"Are you a family member to... Jang Hyunwook?" He stared at the doctor and swallowed his saliva, he can't focus on anything and the doctor told him to breath to calm down first.

"No..but I'm close with them..How about them..Ar-"

"I hope you can call any of their family members because we need to tell them as fast as we can that we need to operate on a victim that was barely survived, and also informed them about the death of the other two..I'm sorry they have gone even before the ambulance arrived."

Hongbin felt like all of his soul was not there. He held the doctor's arm and asked "Who.. who's the one that..was survived..?" He didn't know whom he wished would be alive.

"A victim named Jang Heeyoung. She was barely survived but she got a severe injury on her head and face, so we need to work on that. I hope you can be strong and inform their family members."

He sat at the waiting chairs and sighed. He let his tears fell and held his head. Why did this happened to her, at the day that she thought the most happiest day suddenly turned into the biggest nightmare for her. He unlocked his phone and stared at it for a while. He was not sure who he should call but Hyunwook did give him a number of his sister, Heeyoung's aunt, as he would know if something might happened to them. He wiped his tears and cleared his throat.

"Hello..? Who is this?"

"An..annyeonghaseyo.." He bit his lips and took a deep breath "..jeogi..(excuse me..) I got a news from the hospital..Jang Hyunwook-nim and his family..has involved in an accident.."

"WHAT? Wh..where is it?? How are they? WHo..Who are you?"

"I'll send you the location..Heeyoung..is the only one survived.." He ended the call and covered his face with his palm. He felt too much pain and felt guilty for not able to protect her like what he promised to Eunwoo. Even though she's saved, but she lost two people that she loved the most in this world. He stared at the phone with Eunwoo's number on the screen, he was doubting if he should call and informed him, like can he even make it if he told him as his parents had already arrived at Russia a few days ago.

The operation went well but she was handled in the ICU as the condition of her face was still bad and need intensive care. The glass window shattered and hurt her whole face especially her eyes, there's a few got into her eyes and damaged the first and second layer of the eyes. Hongbin was looking after her while her aunt and the husband handled the funeral for her parents.

"The eyes were badly damaged, it looks like we cannot do anything except for cleaning it and there's high possibility that.." The doctor let a sigh. "-she might be blind." Hongbin looked at the doctor in disbelieved. He sat by her side and cried silently.

"mianhae...mianhae (I'm sorry,I'm sorry) Heeyoung-ah..etteokhae..(what should we do)..I failed to protect you..I made your happiest day turned into the saddest day..I'm sorry.." He asked for forgiveness for like thousand times and held her hands, secured and tight. He got a call from Eunwoo but he didn't pick it up. He thought it's the best not to tell Eunwoo as he wanted to take care of Heeyoung and he also felt she might need time to face people and live a normal life.

After almost two weeks she's in coma, she moved her finger while all of them in the room. They looked at her and the doctor observed her movement. She tried to open her eyes but it felt so hurt. Hongbin quickly held her hands and whispered at her ears.

"Don't force yourself, your eyes were badly injured. You can just tell me if you want anything hmm?" He stroked her hair and noticed she was frowning and a tear dropped from her right eyes.

"I..I dreamed.." She spoke for the first time and her voice was husky and dry.

"About what?" He was still whispering at her and felt she grabbed his hands tighter than earlier.

"A..Appa..eom..eomma.." She suddenly sobbed and another tears came from both of her eyes. "They...they're gone..its just a..dream right..?" Her words made all of them looked down and held their tears. Hongbin wiped her tears and looked at the doctor.

"Heeyoung-ssi, your eyes still need a lot of rest, it includes mind resting as well, so you can continue your sleep and maybe for another week you can open your eyes as usual okay?" She slowly nodded and let go of his hands, but she murmured something to Hongbin.

"When..I wake up..I want my parents.." She fell asleep after the doctor put some medicine in the tube. He also did some eye checkup and observed it seriously. They waited for him and he turned to face everyone.

"It might be hard..she's highly lost her sight..Supposedly she should react when I turned on the flashlight because the medicine was not working yet, but she didn't.."

Hongbin looked at her aunt who was gasping and covering her mouth. He let out a deep sigh and clenched his fist. He got another call from Eunwoo that he had to excuse himself to answer the call.

"Hello.." He tried to sound as normal as he can.

"Hello? Hyung? Finally. Are you busy or something? I call you for weeks." Eunwoo walked towards his living room and turned on the TV, he waited Hongbin to talk back.

"Eo..mianhae..I'm a bit busy..you know..Why are you calling?" He accidentally sobbed and cleared his throat.

"No..wait..are you okay hyung? Are you sick?"

"No..it just I got some flu, working at the outside for too long..and sore throat..I'll be fine..so what is it?"

"Ah..okay take care then, I want to ask if Heeyoung's doing fine, I tried to call her a few times but I thought she might be busy working on the comic so I decided to just ask you because I don't want to disturb her."

"Heeyoung? Oh yeah she's fine. True, she..she's a bit busy tho..She..ah she just lost her phone recently..yeah, she didn't remember all the phone numbers so maybe she didn't save yours yet. I'll tell her to call you if she's free."

"No no its okay, as long as I know that she's fine its okay, you are there to take care of her so I'm not worried so much. It just I want you to tell her that I can't return to Korea for now.. maybe like in four to five months..After that I'll make sure I book a flight."

"Eo..eo okay Eunwoo-yah..Just focus on your work there..I'll try to take care of her better from now on..." Hongbin took a sit at the outside of the hospital building and held his tears again. How can Eunwoo believed that he can take good care of Heeyoung so well?

"Hahah okay hyung, I'll treat you guys when I return, I might not be able to call you guys often so please make sure you text me if anything happen okay hyung. I have to hang up now. Bye" Eunwoo quickly ended the call and sighed.

He went to the kitchen and took a glass of water. He felt uneasy all of the sudden. Everything that he heard seemed like a lie. How can she lost her phone? Even if its on someone else they will answer it, if the phone has died, he would failed to call her but the line was connected just fine.

"He's got a flu? In the middle of summer? Treat her better from now on?.. aishh so much trouble" He finished his drink and went back to work.
