True Colors

Do I deserve the treatment I'm given when all I did was love,
Guarded you like a treasure and held your feelings above,
Anybody that existed within this planet so snug,
Yet all I get in return is a knife fit like a glove

Harshly thrust through my heart watching every feeling escape,
Tormented by all your words and actions for goodness sakes,
I had dreams of sharing memories forever that wouldn't break,
But the sacrifice that I just made proved a fatal mistake,

Now you laugh and cuddle with him reality has been fake,
But illusions showed me a picture that I was honored to take,
Growing old rocking in chairs with family by the lake,
And I lost on every bet that I ever gambled with stakes

You're poison I feel betrayed but never will I return,
You cast my heart in a fire and I'm slowly watching it burn,
I wasn't worth it to fight or even be your concern,
But you say you wanna be friends, not given that s*** is earned

So dance your night away as tears won't even fall,
I learned a valuable lesson with love I won't get involved,
You've shown me your true colors enjoy it have you a ball,
As I cry now and laugh later watching your dreams be stalled.

Love hurts especially when you gave all you had only to be made to look foolish.
