Dream Land

When I close my eyes to dream,
I imagine the love we'd share,
The endless supply of love anointing us,
The passing of the guards to our kids

But then I have to awake,
And you still escape my grasp,
As tears roll down my face,
Crying for the love that I can't have

I capture you in my dreams,
Yet in reality you're not around,
A sour note to the sweetest song playing,
Devastation covers my face

Bitter with an existence that you don't live,
Do to uncertain circumstances,
I'm heartbroken from a gift I'll never received,
That's you laying next to me

Happy, smiling like no other,
As you go all that you deserve,
But now I must sleep,
So that I may have you in my dream land.
