My eyeballs almost popped out of their sockets when I saw my hair in the mirror. Throughout all the times that I had been going to the salon, I never saw this kind of result.
My long brown hair had been trimmed to be of a shoulder length and it looked so silky that I couldn't help but touch it. The end of the hair strands looked golden and the roots had a kind of red color.
I heard the door open and I saw Ruby come in. "I love it."
"Of course. I employed professionals. Micheal is outside."
I frowned. He was still here? Didn't he have work to do or something? I followed Ruby out and saw Micheal talking to a lady. I scoffed. That was the only thing he knew how to do. Ruby went to him and said something to him that made him turn towards my direction.
The moment he set his eyes on me, he staggered. His mouth dropped open, causing me to blush. Was I the one causing him to lose his balance? Then, he began to walk towards me, wearing a shocked look. When he got to my side, he ran his fingers through his hair and then, smiled. "Hey."
I almost laughed at him. He was behaving so funnily. "Can I go home now?"
"Baby, your hair is really pretty."
I just stared at him, shocked beyond words. Did he just call me baby? Okay, I needed to find out what this all meant. He was making me feel uneasy. "Baby?" I asked, trying my best to sound indifferent.
He rubbed his forehead and looked away shyly. "Huh...lets go home."
I almost laughed. He was talking shyly. "I need to call someone. Give me a minute."
"Yeah, gorgeous."
I gave him a look that said 'really?' Why couldn't he just keep his words to himself? He walked away, rubbing the back of his neck. I sighed deeply before putting on my phone and dialling my mum's number.
"Hello, Felicia", she said tiredly. I looked down, not knowing what to say to her. "Felicia? Are you there?"
I nodded and then realized that she couldn't see me. "I got the job, mum."
I couldn't think of any other thing to say to her."Felicia, your dad is really mad at you. You shouldn't have talked back to him the way you did. I also don't support what you are doing. Singers drink and smoke. You need to think of things like that."
"I can't back out anymore, mom."
She sighed. "Whatever, Felicity. Just know we warned you enough." With that, she hung up.
"Michael's outside", Ruby said as she carried my shopping bags along with some other ladies. I nodded and followed them. When we got outside, we walked to Michael's car. They dropped the bag in the boot and left. Just as I looked at Michael to thank him for tagging along, his phone rang. He picked it up and after a few minutes, his expression darkened.
"Prevent it, Mary. All of you should get those documents ready. Do I always have to be there?" he shouted. He looked at me before walking away, obviously not wanting me to hear what he was saying.
So, he was a busy man. His absence had probably caused trouble back at work. I just couldn't understand why he would leave everything and follow me here. He came back in no time, his eyes burning with anger.
"Thank you, sir." I said that to calm him down. The angry look on his face disappeared for a while but then, it returned in no time.
"I'm not a sir. My name is Michael."
I gulped. Yeah, why did I call him sir?
"Yeah, Michael. Thank you for following me here. You have been wonderful." I reminded myself that I was just saying that because I wanted him to feel less angry.
