After we said our prayers, we began to eat our food. Luckily for me, we had been just about a minute late, so, Bailey didn't talk much.
Just as I used my fork to lift a pancake off the main serving plate, I saw Micheal staring at me, his lips quivering. My heart felt for him at that moment. I felt terrible, really. At least, he was my supposed boyfriend and I had to treat him like one. I dropped my fork and looked down at my plate. I had to do this and when I say this, I mean the plan I was planning in my head that I was so going to regret.
"Mike, can you switch seats with me?" I said softly, still reconsidering my decision. Mike looked at me and shook his head.
"What did you say?"
I almost told him to ignore me and continue eating, but when I turned to look at Michael again, I felt really bad. He wasn't even eating. His forefinger and second finger were on his lips, moving to and fro. His eyes were scrutinizing me as if he wanted to separate me, you know, to find out something he hadn't found out before. His gaze almost made my eyes freeze to chunks of ice.
I turned back to look at Mike. "Can you switch seats with me?"
He dropped his fork and looked at me, then at Michael who I was sure was still staring at me, judging by the heat I could feel on the side of my face.
"No, I won't", he said, turning back to look at me. "In case you never had the brains to notice, elf, we all have our personal seats."
I blinked hard at him. Was that the same Mike that kissed my cheek this morning, causing zigzags of electricity in the pit of my stomach? Was that the same guy that asked me to go jogging with him in the mornings? Was that the same guy that had the outstanding ability of making me happy and pissed off at the same time?
"I told you, never speak to her that way", Michael said, hitting the table with full force that Thomas beside me jumped.
"Please, let us know when you're about to hit the table. You scared the hell out of me", Thomas said, his hand on his chest.
"Fraidy cat", Scott joked, hoping to lighten the tension in the room. Well, it didn't work.
"Felicity, why do you want to exchange seats?" Collins asked. Well, if you didn't know already, Collins was the one that settled all our quarrels.
"I want to sit beside...huh... Michael." I noticed the way Michael's face brightened, but that didn't make him smile. He was staring at me now with this look that said I never get you.
Mike scoffed and glared at me. "Well, I'm not shifting anywhere else."
Scott sighed. "I'll move, let's end this shit now."
I smiled at him and watched as he exchanged seats with Micheal. Now, with Micheal beside me, I felt more nervous. "Thank you, Scott."
He smiled at me and continued eating. I turned to give Mike a meh look before looking away.
"Why did you want to sit beside me?" Michael asked in a manner that only I could hear.
I clenched my fists. I knew I was going to regret my next action, but I didn't want Michael sad all the time, because of me. Okay, I was playing nice girl here.
"I want to eat with my boyfriend."
I almost choked at the latter part of my sentence. Boy what? I was just too ridiculous. Well, everyone heard that and choked on my behalf. In no time, bouts of coughing were heard.Michael on the other side looked as if he was going to die of happiness, but he tried his best to look unruffled by what I said. Only that it didn't work with me.
