I turned to stare at him. What was he even talking about? What was there to settle? "Mike, I really don't want to do something we both wouldn't like."
"Then tell me the reason why these tears are dropping down your cheeks."
I wiped them away hurriedly. Why was I crying again? I frowned and shook my head. "Nothing."
He smiled and then, laughed. "Are you kidding me? You mean you are just crying for no reason at all? Isn't that ridiculous?"
I sat up straight and narrowed my eyes at him. "What's your problem?"
"Seriously, I should be asking you that, elf. I cancelled the drive and all of a sudden, you went all weepy."
"I wasn't the one who stopped the car abruptly!"
"What?"
"You heard me, Mike."
"Firstly, elf, that doesn't make a good reason for you crying. Two, you said you'd call me Ten."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh, really? That's what you can think of after we almost died--"
"Elf, chill out. We didn't die. Stop being a pessimist. Stop having those silly thoughts. You are taking this very simple incident too seriously for my liking."
Was I?
"Why did you cancel the drive?"
He blinked once, then twice, then looked away. "Never mind."
"Oh really?"
"I'm beginning to get tired of this." He said in a low voice. Then, he faced me again. "I'm tired of this pretence, honestly."
"What pretence?" I asked, frowning.
"Everything." He started the engine and placed his hands on the wheel. "This whole thing is frustrating."
I huffed and folded my arms across my chest. "You said we weren't leaving until we got this figured out."
He rolled his eyes. "We will never ever have this figured out."
"And why is that?"
He looked at me for a while before looking away again. "At least, not when we are both still pretending. Also, there are some characters we need to clear out together."
"What characters?"
"You'll find out soon elf. Soon."
*************
"Where in God's name did you go to?" Sharon shouted the moment I stepped into my room. "Everyone has being searching for you all over the dorm. Michael especially."
"I went out with Mike." I removed my shoes and placed them in a corner of the room. "Do they know that am back now?"
She walked towards me, her eyes drilling holes in my forehead. "Mike?"
I rolled my eyes. "Geez, Sharon, let me be, okay? I'm too tired to talk right now. Tell the others that I'm back. I dont want them to get worried."
"You are gonna talk, babe, tonight. Now, spill."
I glared at her. "No. You kept your case with Collins to yourself. There's no way in hell that I'll tell you that."
"There's nothing going on between both of us. You are just being silly."
"You like him, don't you?"
"What?"
"Oh no. Look at her turning into a tomato. My dear, admit it or not, you have fallen deep for him."
