I woke up on Saturday feeling super refreshed and energetic. Come to think of it, I couldn't remember how I went into slumber the night before. I was cramping over my assignment pulling all my hairs out (as much as I could) and at the same time super excited that it was going to be Saturday the next day. Miraculously, the assignment had been done. I must remember to have it edited by Cass, I told myself. Not that I liked to have people checking my work but I thought it would be better that way. Besides, Cass had nicely volunteered. She said it would be a good assignment for her.
She was going home to be a Korean Language teacher, so she said. She picked up Korean ten years ago when she watched the legendary Winter Sonata casting Bae Yong Jun and Choi Ji-woo. It was probably one of the first korean dramas after Autumn Tale by Song Hye-kyo and Song Seung-hun which went crazy over in Asia. Since then, she fell in love with the culture and the language. Cass was older than me by a year which made her twenty-two this year.
Rooming in with Cass was a joy. She was a studious and hardworking student. Even though she didn't had a special term to do, she had signed up at a local pre-school helping out with the kids. So she was up by dawn and would return in the evenings. It took her an hour plus to get to the school by train. She was generally a tidy person, well at least, she kept her stuff within her boundary of the bed or her desk. We agreed to take turns to clean the room on alternate weeks which suited me. Since she was out, I was pretty much left alone. I didn't like staying in the room so I went to explore on my own. I visited the beautiful Gyeongbokgung Palace, visited the city centre and went to the well-known Dongdaemun for shopping. I also dropped by Gangnam after hearing PSY's Gangnam Style. It wasn't that difficult to get around since I could speak and understand Korean. But it did get a little lonely moving around by myself.
Cass didn't have to work on weekends so we promised to take brunch together with Hailey before heading to the New Millenium Hall where Lee Min-ho would be making his appearance. They took me to the Sky Lounge Restaurant (SOPRA) where we had a perfect view of the entire campus. Even though the food was much more costly as compared to the other on-campus cafeterias, I felt it was worth it.
The building was alarmingly crowded for a Saturday morning during vacation. Even the restaurant was crowded. We had to wait in line for twenty minutes before we could get a table.
"I told you, didn't I?" Hailey said to Cass. "I told you we should come earlier...," she pretended to pout.
"Sorry," Cass grinned sheepishly. "I wanted to sleep in a little longer..."
"What time is he coming?" Hailey asked as she checked around at the crowd.
"Four," Cass answered. "We still have another five hours to kill."
"Do we have to go in and reserve seats?" I asked, recalling what Ji-hye had told me.
"Of course!" Hailey nodded. "We want to get a good seat, don't we?"
"We'll go in after this," Cass added.
I ordered a simple beef bibimbap which was a mixture of rice and vegetables and beef. It was rather large serving which I suspected would do well to last me until evening. Cass bought some snacks and drinks to tide us over the long wait in the Theater.
By the time we headed to the second basement where the Theater was, it was already half filled with excited people both female and male. I could see that most of them were students around our age. I wondered if they were Konkuk students. Hailey managed to find us center seats somewhere in the middle which wasn't that bad, really.
"Not bad," Cass grinned as she weaved her way in to join us.
"Get your butts down before the seats are gone," Hailey warned.
