Chapter Fifty four - The best couple of course goes to...

I loved SM! That was the best night I ever had! It was awesome, amazing, fabulous, wonderful, okay - the list could go on and on. Minho had a great time too. I could see it on his face even though he refused to acknowledge it as enthusiastically as I did. I told myself I was so going to be attending the next concert and the next and the next.

Come just one month short of our wedding, I received an invitation to attend the SBS Drama Awards together with Minho. He had been nominated in the Top ten stars as well as Top Excellence Awards. Together, we had been nominated for the Best Couple Award and I was also nominated for the New Star Award.

The first excited person to hear that I received an invitation was Seo-jin of course. Receiving an invitation to such a prestigous event only meant that I was getting recognized and the fact that I had been nominated was an honor.

The second person was Bae who was assigned the responsibility of dressing me up for the event. Everybody knew it was important to be well-dressed for the event especially for a female celeb. Whether or not you would eventually get on stage, people would be looking at you from the moment you enter the arena. And if you dressed well, the designer gained the recognition of course. And since I would definitely be going in with Minho now that he was my fiance, we had to go in matching colours.

Minho had specified that he would be wearing a black suit. That gave Bae a relatively easier job to find a suitable colour for me. In the end, he selected a yellow gown which had crystals embedded on the high waist band. I loved the gown because it was simple and elegant yet not too revealing. It had only one shoulder and wasn't too heavy for me to walk with. I didn't fancy those long trains especially for an event like that where you had to walk down the red carpet. Bae matched the gown with a pair of long dangle crystal ear rings with my hair hair tied back in a little pony tail. I loved it.

A car was sent to pick us up on the day itself to save us the hassle from driving ourselves. On the way there, Minho gave me a little lesson on dealing with the crowd.

"Once we arrive and the door opens, cameras will start flashing," he said. "Just relax and walk normally. Take my arm."

"Are you afraid that I'll fall?" I rolled my eyes.

"Don't be surprised," he warned. "There are many who fell at the walkway even men."

"Serious?"

"Anyway, if... if that happens, just walk on as if it's no big deal."

"I'll make sure I hold on to you tightly," I promised.

And he was right. As soon as the car came to a halt, I could see the cameramen on standby and the event MC was also standing by with her microphone. I didn't recognise her.

"And here comes the to-be-married couple!" she announced as I heard the clicking of cameras went mad. Taking Minho's arm, I followed his lead out of the car and smiled easily at everybody. Before we could proceed, we were stopped to be interviewed.

"This is Shin Ee's first Award event. How are you feeling?" she asked.

"I'm feeling very excited," I said.

"Both of you have been nominated for quite a few awards. What do you think are your chances of getting the Best Couple?"

"The nominees are very strong candidates," Minho answered. He had told me earlier to leave the answering to him. "But we'll leave it to the viewers to decide." With that, we walked hand in hand towards the arena.

We were led first to a podium whereby we were asked to stop and pose for pictures. Behind us was a board of sponsors. The cameras clicked wildly and then it was done. Once entering the main arena, we were directed to our table. And as expected, they had seated us next to each other. We had some others like whom I knew - Kim Woobin and Go-Ara on our table. For the rest, Minho introduced us. He was really a 'senior' in this field because everybody knew him and he knew everybody. For some moments of the night, I got a little lonely when he was off chatting with people I didn't know.

The Awards started on time promptly and headed off wiith awards after awards. Not surprisingly, Minho clinched the Excellence Award for the Male Actor category. I was probably one of those who clapped the loudest and I blushed when he mentioned my name in gratitude. Of course, at that moment, the camera had to be on me.

I wasn't that far off either. I managed to clinch the Award for the New Star together with four other newbies who started off about the same time as I did. The most exciting moment was of course the Award for Top Ten Stars. It meant the whole world to a celeb to know that you were being recognized by the pubic and that people liked you. Minho was easily in the list and he joined the nine others on stage. Kim Woobin was also part of them.

Then came the final award - the Best Couple. He was right. We were up against pretty strong nominees who had very good roles and dramas. It would definitely be difficult to get this one.

And then finally they announced it. The best couple went to... Minho and I for our latest drama together. Come to think of it, that drama won quite a couple of awards. I took Minho's hand as we walked up the stage together.

"So, when is your wedding?" the MC teased.

"Next month," Minho answered bashfully.

"Our best couple for the century!" the other MC cheered and the fans immediately went crazy.

We were each given a bouquet of flowers as well as the award - a golden statue which felt cold in my hands. This was my second award for this year and I was glad I had Minho by my side.
