"Minhyuk! What are you doing here?" I couldn't help exclaiming. Okay, honestly, I was a little disappointed yet surprised. Disappointed because I thought it might be Minho while surprised because I really hadn't expected Minhyuk to turn up at my door at this time of the night.
"Hi!" he flashed me his boyish grin as he looked at me sheepishly. "I was hoping you'll still be awake," he chuckled at my PJ. I had on my favourite pink bunny PJs. Well nothing new. He had seen me in it before. In fact, all the viewers and fans had seen me in it. It was my trademark sleeping attire.
"I am," I assured him quickly with a smile. "But was just about to go to bed." I stared at the bouquet of flowers which he had just handed me. There were at least a dozen of fresh red roses if not more. I could literally smell the fragrance of the freshness. And it was blooming; not those closed up petals which some shops sold so that you could keep them longer but fresh big blooming roses. Really beautiful. I had mentioned to Minhyuk once how much I loved roses. "Thank you... Do you want to come in?"
"I thought you'll never invite me in," he chuckled as I stepped aside to let him in. He was holding a small little box. "Happy birthday!" he held up the box as he said. "I brought you a cake."
Then quite suddenly, I frowned. As he stepped in, I couldn't help checking if there was anybody else behind him.
He caught my suspicious look. "What?" he said as he placed the box on the table.
"You came alone?" I asked before convincing myself to shut the door.
"Of course!" he mused. "Who should I be with? Who were you expecting?"
"Well... maybe a VJ or somebody," I shrugged sheepishly. "Sorry... I'm just being sceptical. This is not for WGM right? Not a mission or something right?"
He finally understood my concern. He laughed out loud. "You thought this was a mission?" He laughed again. "Of course not! WGM is officially over for me. I'm over here on my own accord."
"Okay," the tension fell off my shoulders as I relaxed. "Glad to hear that. Sorry... because I really wasn't expecting anyone at this time of the night..."
"I should have called first," he apologised. "But I thought I wanted to give you a surprise..." He opened up the small little box to reveal a red velvet cake - one of my favourites too. "Come," he beckoned. "You got to blow your candle, make a wish and eat your cake before midnight!"
"Okay," I beamed as I walked up to him. He handed me a small little knife. He had placed a candle in the middle of the cake and lit it up.
He began singing. "Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you, Happy birthday to you!"
