Sarah POV-
We climbed into the car and sped off. What were they going to do with bombs and fire starters? Blow the house up? Oh no.
"Ross, what are they going to do with that stuff?" I asked nervously. He shrugged his shoulders while he drove. "I don't know.. Let's just hope they do nothing." He said. I nodded my head.
We finally arrived home, and we sprinted inside, shutting the door behind us.
"Woah what's wrong?" Riker asked. I turned to see Ashley sleeping on top of his lap, he was trying to braid her hair. "We got a problem." I said, breathing heavily. "They may or may not blow up this house."
His eyes grew wide. "Don't say anything or you'll wake your princess." I said before he could say anything. "Sleeping beauty." He said with a sigh as he looked at her. He kissed her, then she woke up. "What a coincidence." I said with a laugh, then Ross and I went to his room.
"What are we going to do?" I asked nervously. "Just hope they don't come here." He said with a shrug. "Ross honey," I heard a female voice say. I turned my head to see Stormie, Ross's mother, holding a laundry basket and leaning against the door frame. "Remember we have a cookout tonight."
"I didn't mom, thanks." He said with a polite smile. She nodded and winked, then walked off. I smiled, then realized what could happen. "Ross.." I muttered as I grabbed his hand. "What?" He asked nervously. "You do know what could happen at the cookout right?" I asked. He thought for a second, then his eyes grew wide, slowly nodding.
"You know, maybe nothing is going to happen. Let's just forget about them and have a great time." I assured him. "I know I'll have a great time, as long as I'm with you." He said with a smile. I smiled back, then gave him a kiss.
"Come on, let's get ready." I said as I stood up and held out my hand to him. "But I am ready." He whined, still taking my hand anyways. "But we need to look nice!" I said. He gasped, "I don't look nice?!" I shook my head. "Of course you do!" I assured him. He rolled his eyes. "Well what do I wear?" He asked. "I was thinking the same thing." I said. He stood up still hanging on to my hand, then dragged me into Rydel's room.
"Why are we here?" I asked. "Because." He said, digging through her closet, then bringing a Hawaiian dress out. "I've always wanted you to wear this. I've always wanted to see this beautiful dress on an even more beautiful girl." He complimented. I blushed, then took the dress from his hands. It had spaghetti straps, had white flowers on it, and was red. "We need to match." I said with a smirk. "No problem!" He said, then we walked back to his room, looking for a red shirt.
We quickly got dressed, just in time before we started the grill. I adjusted my brown, wavy hair by putting a flower that marched my dress in it. I smiled, then felt arms wrap around my waist.
"Helloooo." I sang. "Hi." Ross mumbled into my neck. "Come on, let's get down there." I said as I patted his hands. He nodded, then we walked hand in hand, down to the pool area.
"Hey!" I heard Mark, Ross's dad, yell from the grill. "Hey! How're those burgers coming?" Ross asked. Mark lifted up his thumb while he flipped a burger. "Awesome." I heard Ross whisper, then we sat at the table Stormie set up.
"This looks great!" I complimented. "And there is even a tent over there with some fruits and other arrangements!" She said as she pointed behind her. "Let's go get some fruit!" I said to Ross, then we ran over there.
Riker, Rydel, Rocky, Ashley, and Ryland were already there, scooping strawberries, pineapples, and even more on to their plates. "Looks delicious." I said. "I agree." Ross replied, then we started scooping fruits on our plates.
I breathed in the nice summer air, but something felt different. The air felt.. Thick. Like, smoke thick. Even it smelt different.
"Do you smell that?" I asked Ross. "What?" He asked, sounding droopy. "Do you smell that?" I said, emphasizing each word. He shook his head, then he coughed a bit. I then coughed too. I jogged out of the tent, to see the grill was on fire, and I saw two girls in the driveway, climbing into their car and bolting away. Just what I worried about. Kendyll and Kelsea were here, and we are all going to die.
The fire soon spread to the table, and Mark and Stormie were no where in sight. "Guys!" I coughed. "Get out of here!"
I ran back into the tent, and I saw all of my friends, dying by breathing in too much smoke. I pushed them all out, but I saw that I missed one person. Ross.
The house now was caught on fire, and I had no where to escape. Thick smoke traveled into my lungs, and almost too much. I started coughing more and more, then I realized that Ross could have gotten out. The sad part is, he didn't even try to look for me.
I tried to find my way out too then, and I finally reached the gate to get into the driveway. My hand trembles as I reached the handle, and used all my strength to open it. I looked through the crack that I opened, and saw everyone was safe. However I was not, and I soon felt my body hit the ground, feeling a couple breaths escape my body, until it stopped.
