I slowly opened my eyes, my head was still killing me. I frowned as I sat up, looking around at the empty hospital room. How did I get here? I pushed the nurse button and a few seconds later a nurse walked in.
"What am I doing here?" I asked her looking around the room. She smiled at me sweetly and looked at my chart, reading it off to me.
"A young man brought you in, said you were talking one minute and laying on the floor past out the next." She said, looking up at me. I frowned, but suddenly the memory of Nathan yelling at me popped in my mind, and I remember passing out. If Nathan brought me here, where is he? "your charts show that you're blood pressure is really low and so is your heartbeat.." she stopped mid-sentence and looked up at me. She grabbed my hands and looked at my nails before sighing and setting my chart down. "when was the last time you've eaten?" She asked
"I dont know.." I whispered, looking away from her. "You didn't call my parents did you?"
"Well you're 18, so no legally I don't have to." She said, and I nodded.
"So, can I go home?"
After talking with a doctor and the nurse giving me a bunch of support group pamphlets they finally let me go home when my blood pressure went back to normal. I was so greatful that they didn't call my mom, I would have been in serious trouble. I walked out the hospital to catch a cab, but bumped into someone. I looked up to see Nathan looking down at me, i was surprised to see he wasn't high.
"Nathan, what are you doing here?" I asked, confused. He shook his head and grabbed my arm, bringing me to his car. "This is kidnapping." I muttered, putting my seat belt on.
"Yeah well if you tell the cops I'll tell your mom you're starving yourself." He smirked, driving out the parking lot. I scoffed and leaned back in the seat, looking out the window.
"Okay Nathan seriously where are we going?" I asked, looking at him as we passed the turn for our building.
"Just sit back and shut up for once." He muttered, turning the radio up. I huffed loudly and crossed my arms, staring at all the trees we passed. Finally the car started to slow down, and we stopped infront of this little park right at the edge of a hill overlooking the city. I frowned and looked at him but he was already getting out of the car. I got out as well, and followed him to the swings.
"Look, Katherine I-im sorry about the way I've been treating you." He said, looking up at the sky. "When I'm wrong I admit that I'm wrong, and it was wrong of me to treat you as if you were a piece of dirt, which you're not." He apologized, looking straight at me. "For now on I'm going to try and get along with you. If Jason can, I guess I can too."
"Is this because of what happened tonight? Because I assure you this isn't any of your fault and there is nothing wrong with me." I said, getting defensive. He rolled his eyes and stopped his swing, staring at me seriously.
"What you're doing to yourself is ridiculous, Katherine. There's no need to starve yourself when you're as perfect as ever."
"I-im not"
"Are you really going to try and deny it again? Katherine I just took you to the fucking hospital for crying out loud! When are you going to realize and admit that you have a fucking problem? Are you trying to kill yourself?"
"I don't have a problem!" I screamed, standing up and walking to the edge of the hill. I wrapped my arms around my body, feeling the tears spring to my face. "I don't starve myself. I dont. I make sure I eat enough to survive, I've just been super stressed with my aunt in town, that's all." I closed my eyes and whipped my tears away, turning to look at him. He was standing a few feet behind me, looking at me with a strange look on his face.
"You need to eat more than once a day, penguin." He whispered, walking closer to me. He reached up and brushed a piece of hair out from infront of my face and smiled lightly "You're way to beautiful to feel anything other than perfect." With that he walked to his car and got in, waiting for me to follow. I got in the passenger seat and leaned my head against the window, closing my eyes. Nathan calling me beautiful, and even apologizing was something I never thought he'd do sober. It was like a once in the life time opportunity, him being nice to me even when not high. I always imagined that he'd just never get use to the idea of being nice to me, but here he is giving me life changing advice.
"You're not so bad, Nathan Black. Not so bad." I mumbled just before falling fast asleep.
"Angel, wake up. Hello, wake the hell up" I shook her body one more time and she groaned, rolling over to look at me.
"Katherine? What time is it?" Angel questioned, sitting up.
"Well, it's 6am but I woke you up for a good cause!" I said cheerfully, opening her curtains.
"Donuts?" She beamed, her eyes widening. I rolled my eyes at her and sat at the edge of the bed, smiling sweetly.
"Me and you are going to go running! Aren't you so excited? We're going to get in good shape!" I clapped my hands together for dramatic effect, hoping she'd say yes.
"Kat we're already in really good shape. Just let me sleep until 12." She laid back down, facing the opposite direction. I huffed and grabbed her blanket, snatching it off of her.
"Angelina get out of the bed right now." I demanded her, putting my hands on my hip. She rolled her eyes but got out of bed reluctantly.
