I walked down the halls of my school, tears brimming my eyes as I knew I would never walk down these halls again. The only thing I'd have left is the memories. I tried to tell myself to be positive, but I couldn't. I didn't want to leave my town, my school and especially my friends. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone.

When I walked out the doors and to the parking lot I let my tears fall. I sat in my car crying my eyes out in the empty parking lot. Saying goodbye to my hometown is one of the hardest things I ever had to do. This is the place that I grew up, the place that I met the most important people in my life. When I finally stopped crying, I whipped my tears and started my car, driving home where my mother was waiting.

"Kat, did you put the last box in the truck?" my mother asked me as she whipped sweat off her forehead. I nodded, a fake smile on my face. I didn't want to move, but I also didn't want to make things hard for my mom. I know how much this job means to her and I don't want to ruin it. I'd do anything for my mother. We walked outside to the truck, and I got in the passenger side, putting my headphones in and preparing for a long drive.

I slowly opened my eyes, sitting up in my seat as I looked out the windshield. We were finally at our new place. My mother was a lawyer, and she got a promotion to one of the best firms in New York. I looked at my mom, and she looked back at me for approval.

"Its nice." I nodded at her, and she smiled before getting out of the truck. My mother put the code in to get in the building, and we took the elevator to our floor. My mom walked towards our apartment, and I went to walk in when she stopped me.

"What are you doing?" She asked me, not allowing me to come in. I looked at her confused, and she laughed tossing my a pair of keys. "You don't live here, you live there." She pointed to the door down the hall from hers. She started to walk over there and I followed, even more confused. She unlocked it with her own set of keys and walked in. "Since I'm going to be gone a lot for work, I decided that you should have your own loft. Theres no need for you to stay in the apartment all alone all the time." She told me, a smile on her face as we walked in. My mouth fell open in awe as I looked around the loft. "I had it furnished and designed for you." My mother told me, putting her arm around my shoulders.

"Do you like it?" She asked nervously due to my silence

"Do you like it?" She asked nervously due to my silence. The place was beautiful.

"I love it mom, but do you think it's a good idea? I mean, do you think you can..." I trailed off, and she waved my worries away.

"I'll be fine, I promise. Now I'll let you unpack your things." She told me, giving me a hug before walking out. I bit my lip and walked into the kitchen, running my hand over the counter. I was incredibly excited about having my own place, but I was scared for my mom to live without me. Yes, I'm right down the hall but anything could happen.

After getting unpacked, I walked over to my moms place. I walked in and saw my mom sitting in the living room, filling out paper work. I set her medicine bag on the coffee table, and sat beside her. I got out her pills and a water bottle, along with the needle that I needed.

"Are you ready?" I asked her when I finished preparing the shot. She nodded with a sigh, and I placed the needle in her arm, injecting the medicine in her body, "all done." I smiled at her and put the needle away as she took her pills.

"Thanks babygirl." She smiled at me sadly. I shrugged and stood up, taking the bag into the kitchen and placing it in the pantry where I knew she'd look a lot.

"Don't forget to take your pill and shot everyday mom, and don't forget to eat." I told her, and she nodded.

"I wont, I promise. Now go home and get some sleep, you have school tomorrow." She told me sternly, and I nodded telling her goodnight before heading back to my loft. I had planned to go out and explore a little, but we ended up getting here so late that I didn't have time.

I woke up with my alarm blaring throughout the room. I groaned and rolled over, turning it off. Waking up early definitely wasn't for me. I hate mornings.  I walked down the stairs and to the kitchen, putting some coffee on before walking down the hall to my moms. On the way there, I bumped into someone and fell to the ground. I was so tired I could barley see where I was going.

"What the hell? Watch where you're going twat." I snapped even though I'm pretty sure it was my fault. I stood up, dusting my pajama pants off.

"You bumped into me, bitch." A voice snarled. I looked up and locked eyes with the most gorgeous human being I've ever seen. Too bad hes an asshole.

"Excuse me? Do not call me a bitch!" I yelled. Who the hell did this guy think he was? Just because he's hot doesn't mean he's going to get away with all this disrespect.

"Whatever, penguin." He smirked, looking down at my penguin pajamas. I rolled my eyes and walked away, hearing his laugh echoing in the hallway. "Nice waddle!" He yelled, and I turned around to flick him off.

"Heres your schedule and school map, I hope you have a good first day and welcome to Grayberry high school, home of the lions." The receptionist smiled at me, handing me my schedule and school map. I thanked her politely and walked out the office, going to look for my first period class, the halls were empty except for a group of girls and 2 boys. School didn't start until 7:30 and its only 6 so I assumed I was just early. I sighed as I helplessly looked down at the school map. I've never seen a map so confusing. My old school was pretty small, we didn't need a map to get around.

"Need help?" A soft voice asked. I looked up to see a girl smiling at me sweetly. I was skeptical at first, being the new girl was scary. Eventually I nodded my head, handing her my schedule. "Ah, you have first period with me. I'm Angelica, but everyone calls me Angel." She handed me my schedule back after telling me we could walk to first period together.

"Where is everyone?" I asked her, looking around the nearly empty hallway. We walked over to the group of people down the hall, and she explained that nobody hangs in this hallway because all the deans offices are here and their incredibly strict.

"This is Kevin, hes the star quarterback of our football team, Luke hes the captain of the baseball team, and these gorgeous girls are Natalie, we call her Nat, shes the goalie for our soccer team, I'm the captain by the way, and that's Amber, she doesn't play sports, instead she shops." She introduced me to everyone, and they all said hey.

"I'm Katherine, but you can call me Kat, with a K." I smiled, waving slowly.

"Do you play any sports?" Nat asked me, looking me up and down. She enclosed her hand in Kevin's, staring at me possessively as if i was going to steal her man any second. I ignored it, after all I was the new girl so she had a right to.

"Im a ballerina." I said, looking at them awkwardly. Luke was about to say something when the front doors banged open, and a group of guys started to walk in, one of them looking very familiar. I rolled my eyes, recalling the encounter we just had this morning. He seemed to recognize me also, as he stopped right in front of me.

"Are you following me, penguin?" he smirked, crossing his arms.

"The only thing following you is that bad smell, do you not shower?" I retorted, smiling sweetly. His jaw clenched, and he stepped forward, causing me to step back.

"Do you know who I am?" he snapped, his teeth clenching. Range was evident in his eyes, and I gulped loudly. My first day and im already on someones bad side. What is with me? I shouldn't be scared of this boy, whats he going to do, hurt my feelings?

Yes, he will.

"I don't want to." I whispered, before slipping past him right as the bell rang. I walked to first period with Angel, her grilling me on how I knew Nathan, she said that was his name. When we got to class, I sat in the back beside Angel, who seemed like a really cool person. Halfway through class, the door opened and Nathan walked in with the guys from earlier.

Oh great.
