The smell of lavender hit my nose as I walked into the house. Kyle shut the door behind me loudly, causing me to jump. He quickly apologized and grabbed my jacket, placing it on the table by the door as he told me to take my shoes off and follow him. We walked down the hall until we reached a door that led to a stair case, at the bottom was another door with a lock. Kyle punched in a code before the door opened and we walked in. I felt like everything was in slow motion as I walked inside. The door slammed shut behind me, causing both Nathan and Jason to turn around. The moment Jason saw me he dropped the cup he was holding and ran over to me, bringing me into a hug. I clutched onto his shirt as he held me in his arms, I didn't want him to let me go, ever. I felt safe in his arms, like the world couldn't hurt me.

"Thank God you're okay." He breathed, pulling away from me. I looked at him as a tear slipped down my cheek silently. He brought his hand up and whipped it away softly, looking at me with worry in his eyes. He brought his hand up to my cut and whipped at the dried blood "I'm sorry." he whispered, and I bit my lip as I looked down at my shoes. Why was he apologizing? Its my fault, not his. I'm the one that brought Carter into our lives. I looked back up at him and shook my head, giving him a small smile.

"Don't apologize." I whispered before pulling away from him and turning to Nathan and Kyle. Jason grabbed my hand and dragged me to the oval table in the middle of the room. I sat down beside him. "So is anyone going to tell me what the hell happened back there?" I asked, my voice filling the silence. Nathan and Kyle sat in front of us. Nathan hasn't looked at me since I walked into the room. I frowned at the thought, and looked down at my hands.

"The SUV belongs to a guy named Brandon Santos and another guy named Chad doorman." Jason set a picture of two guys in front of me, but it didn't matter if I saw the picture or not. Brandon and Chad's face was burned into my memory, their faces haunted my dreams. I could never forget what they looked like. I sucked in a breath, shocked. "They were the ones that ran Carter off the road." By now I wasn't surprised that Kyle and Jason knew who Carter was. I was kind of expecting this to be related to the Carter thing. I laughed and shook my head, causing them to look at me like I was crazy.

"Are you on crack?" Kyle raised his eyebrows, sitting up in his chair. I cleared my throat as I finally stopped laughing, and looked down at the picture in front of me and shook my head.

"There's no way. No." I shook my head and crossed my arms. "Brandon and Chad were Carter's best friends, there's no way it was them."

"Katherine, it was them. Kyle saw it." My eyes shot up to Kyle, who looked down at his hands.

"Then why would they do it? They were like brothers, they did everything together." I stood up and walked to the counter in the corner of the room. There was a bottle of tequila sitting on the counter, with 2 glasses. I grabbed one and filled it up before swallowing it quickly. The burning sensation felt good in my throat, I filled the glass again and drank it all. "They even killed my brother together." I laughed heartlessly, pouring more in the glass and drinking it again. I slammed the glass down and walked back to the table, picking the picture up. I remembered the last time I saw them was in court when they were being taken to Prison. I remember the way Chad turned around and looked at me before walking into the room, like I had just took his life.

"They obviously blame Carter for what happened and wanted to get revenge, and now they want revenge on you to." Kyle said. I looked up at Jason and narrowed my eyes, tossing the picture in front of him.

"They were at fault, they were to blame!" I yelled, glaring at Kyle. "Its their fault they went to prison, their fault that my brothers dead, not mine! Its not my fault, its not my fault" I looked at the picture again before turning around. I covered my face with my hands as I tried to slow my breathing.

"I think that's enough for today. I'm going to take her home now." I knew it was Nathan that was talking, but I didn't move. I just kept picturing the SUV and the gun and Brandon and Chad's face. A hand hit my shoulder, making me jump. I looked up to see Jason standing in front of me.

"I'll see you tomorrow, okay?" He smiled sadly and gave me a hug before Nathan led me out the room silently. When we got to the door a lady walked out from the room next to us, she was the spitting image of Jason. Her hair was in a messy bun and she had white powder all over her clothes, and a blue towel in her hand.

"I was going to make you boys cookies but I dropped the flour everywhere." She said sheepishly, not yet noticing me.

"Thats okay Mrs.Miles, I was just leaving anyway." Nathan smiled at her before glancing at me. She followed his line of sight and her eyes landed on me.

"Oh my I didn't even see you there." She chuckled, whipping her hands on her towel before gesturing for a hand shake.

"Hi, i'm Katherine." I smiled at her, and her eyes lit up at the mention of my name. She glanced at Nathan and smirked.

"So you're the infamous Katherine." She giggled, and I looked at Nathan confused. He looked away quickly, and I looked back at the woman, who I presume is Jason's mother. "I've heard so many wonderful things about you." She said before there was a beeping noise coming from the room she had walked out of. "Oh shoot the brownies! Well Katherine I hope to see you soon, you should both come for dinner this weekend, I promise I won't cook!" She joked before scurrying off to the kitchen. I giggled and walked out the door with Nathan, following him to his car.

"Jason's mom is really nice." I said as we pulled out of the driveway. Nathan didn't say anything in return, he just kept his eyes on the road as he drove. The whole ride was silent, and it made me really uncomfortable. When we pulled into the parking lot of our building Nathan got out and walked into the lobby, me following behind him silently. I wanted to say something, but I didn't want to anger him. We walked up to my loft and I unlocked the door before turning around and looking at him. He was facing his door, about to open it when I spoke.

"Did I do something?" I asked quietly, "Are you mad at me because of what happened?" Nathan didn't say anything for a minute, I was about to just walk inside when he turned around, a look of pain on his face. He walked over to me slowly.

"Katherine.." He whispered, looking down at the floor before looking back up at me. "I thought you were going to be hurt.." His voice came out quietly, but it was so loud and clear to me. "I don't know what I would have done if anything had of happened to you. You-you're all I care about, Katherine and if you get hurt I don't think i'll be okay after.."

"Nathan, hey, i'm fine, i'm right here, i'm fine." I said, grabbing his hands. He looked up at me with sad eyes, looking at every inch of my face.

"I need you to always be okay.." He whispered, cupping my face with his hands, "eres tan importante para mi, mi amor." I could feel his breath on my lips as he leaned in closer. His eyes fluttered closed before he smashed his lips onto mine.
