I glanced in my review mirror at Kyle as he sat in the back, looking at his phone anxiously. "Something wrong, Kyle?" I asked causing Nathan to turn around and look at him as well. Kyle looked at both of us before looking back down at his phone with a sigh.

"I didn't do it." He muttered, running a hand through his hair. I could feel his stress radiating off of him.

"Whoa, what do you mean you didn't do it?" I asked, glancing at Nathan skeptically. Nathan quickly pushed the breaks, stopping the car in the middle of the road.

"If you didn't do it then who the hell did?" Nathan snapped, glaring at him. If Kyle wasn't the one that killed him, that means someone else knows something they shouldn't.

"I don't know. When I got there the car was already flipped and I heard police sirens so I got the hell out of there." Kyle said, "there was a black SUV lurking around, I got the tag and I've been tracking it ever since."

"Why the fuck didn't you tell us sooner?" I growled, clenching my fists.

"I thought I could handle it, okay? I thought whoever did it would flee town once they knew the cops found out it wasn't an accident but they didn't leave. They're still here, and they pass her apartment everyday." Kyle pulled something up on his phone and handed it to me. It was the coordinates of the vehicle. Whoever it was they were parked by the abandoned building about 5 miles from Kat's apartment building. Nathan quickly started the truck and did a U-turn, following the vehicles coordinates.

"Are we just going to show up there? Nathan that's risky and you know it." Kyle said, grabbing his phone back.

"Shut up Kyle, we wouldn't be in this position if you knew how to do your fucking job, anyway." Nathan yelled as his fists tightened against the steering wheel, his knuckles turning white.

"Dude Kyle's right. These guys killed Carter and we have no idea who they are or what they're cable of, we can't just go in there." I reasoned with him. Just then my phone started to ring. I looked down and saw that it was Amber.

"Hello?" I grumbled into the phone, annoyed, not at Amber, but at Kyle.

"Jason, can you come to Kats?" Amber said, her voice sounding worried, like there was something she wasn't saying.

"What are you not telling me, Amber?"

"She didn't want me to say anything to amyone but we went to the mall today and we kind of saw Joseph.. He was with Angel and they started being rude and-" before she could finish I hung up, telling Nathan to turn the car back around and head towards the apartment.

"Where is she?" I asked as soon as I walked in with Kyle and Nathan behind me. Natalie pointed to the balcony and I nodded, walking over. Kat was standing outside, looking out over the edge. "Hey." I said quietly, walking up to her. She glanced at me and smiled sadly.

"She told you didn't she?" She whispered, leaning her head on my shoulder.

"Yeah, are you alright?" I asked, putting my arm around her. She didn't respond, she just stood there with her head on my shoulder looking out at the world. "That was a dumb question, huh?" I chucked sarcastically. "Joseph's a dick for letting you go, Kat. I know you don't see that, but one day, hopefully, you will. If you could see yourself the way I see you then you'd understand me when I say there's no competition between you and Angel." I kissed her on the head and she looked up at me, smiling slightly.

"You're the best friend anyone could have. Ambers going to be a lucky girl." She grinned. I rolled my eyes and pushed her jokingly, causing her to laugh.

"Amber won't be the lucky one." I muttered, stuffing my hands in my pockets.
