Chapter 2

Charlene's POV

I sat down in the train compartment with Ebony. Lolita, who had dyed her hair a light purple this year, was off with her 'guy friends', so we were alone together again. We'd made sure to get on the train early so that we didn't have to share a compartment with anyone again. She knew how it was with Derek, and she understood, which was a first.

I lifted my legs onto the seat opposite me. It had been a long journey to get here, considering we came back from a  holiday in Spain earlier this day. Aparation makes Derek sick and Dad, being as soft as he is, decided to take the muggle way back. ' It'll only be a bit longer,'he told me. ' Besides, we get to see how muggles do it! ' He said. ' You won't want to hex everyone on board that deathtrap,' He said. Well not really but you get the idea.

" So, how were the holidays? " Ebony asked me.

" I'm glad to be alive. " I responded with a sigh.

" Were they that bad? " She said.

" You have no idea. " I said.

" Is this about the family reunion? " She asked. I nodded.

" My aunt was there and she let slip that I had hid out at hers before the attack. " I sighed. " Grandpa and Grandma congratulated me, but dad decided to ground me for the entire summer. At least Derek suffered with me. Dad was angry at him for not telling him and grounded him too. ' Silence is just as bad as actually doing it. ' or something like that. "

" Merlin that must have sucked. " She said.

She went on about her summer, something about her brothers, but I was distracted. A boy with black hair and dark eyes passed by our compartment, who I recognized from last year. What in the name of Salzar Slytherin is Araneo doing on the bus?!

I met Araneo last year, during the attack. Remember the spider  I had met, more so he nearly killed me in the battle? He was an animagi by the name of Araneo. He was a year younger than me, and we'd gotten on pretty well. I started visiting him just outside the forbidden forest. We became quite close.

" Hello? " Ebony said, snapping her fingers in front of my face, jolting me out of my daze.

" Yes? " I asked.

" Did you actually hear a word I said? " She asked. She rolled her eyes.

" Seriously Charlie, what is with you today? "

" Nothing, just tired. " I said.

" I'll take your word for it. " She sighed.

" Can we come in? " I heard a voice say from outside.

" Can I get away from you for ONE moment?! Like just one! " I sighed, staring my brother and his two friends in the eye.

" She means yeah, but she's not going to you or acknowledge your existence at all. " Ebony said.

I glared at her. I so very hated my life.
