Chapter 4

Charlene's POV

"I swear I've heard that name before." I whispered to Ebony.

" Merlin me to. Mary Kirke, do you think it's Loly's sister?" She said.

" Not her! Another girl.. Obitus? " I said.

" I have no clue what you're talking about Charlie. It does sound Latin though... Maybe she's foreign? " She said.

" Maybe... " I said. I brushed away the thought and picked up some food. I just hoped this year would be normal, unlike last year.

" Hey Charlie, what other subjects are you gonna choose? " Ebony asked, her mouth full of food.

" That's next year Ebony. " I muttered.

" Yeah but my parents said that I should start thinking know. Besides, we pick them this year but don't do them until next year. " She said.

I snorted. " You sound like a five year old. "

She glared at me. " It's true! Now what are you going to choose? I need inspiration. "

" I was thinking that I'd take up Arithmancy or Divintation. Maybe both. " I said

" I never saw you as a mystic type! " Ebony said.

" Me neither, but it sounds better than a lot of things. Besides, looking into the future could be useful. " I said.

" Meh, sounds like a drag to me, all that crystal ball stuff. I'll think about it later. " She said. I yawned.

" I for one just hope the building doesn't burn down or explode or something. " I said. " But knowing the Potter family, they bring chaos everywhere they go. It's bound to at least kill a few people this time round. "

" Tell me about it. " She laughed.

As the feast ended, we wandered into the dungeon into our dorm rooms. Along the way I saw a young black haired kid walking alone, skipping and laughing.

" That girl gives me the creeps. " I muttered to Ebony.

" Obitus? She's just being a kid Charlie, stop being so judgmental. " She said. " She actually seems pretty sweet. "

" Hmph. "

We made it into the common room and I went straight to my dorm. I took the bed closest to the window, which showed the lake in its moonlit glory. I lay down on the bed. Ebony took the one next to me. Ebony took something out of her bag. I went over to her to see what it was.

She looked into a small paper bag, said a spell under her breath and suddenly a black and blue snake appeared.

" Wow! " I said.

" I named her Vicky. She's real deadly you know. If there's anyone you dislike, just ask for her and she'll get the job done. " She smirked.

" Cool, just don't let her near my bed, OK? " I said. She smiled, but nodded.

" I'm going to head to bed. Wake me up when you do if I'm not already up. " I said.

" Fine. " Ebony said. With a simple spell I was in my pajamas, a shirt and shirts, and got into bed.

" Night. " I muttered.

" Night. " An unfamiliar voice said. I brushed it off as my imagination and closed my eyes.

" Sweet dreams. "
