Mia's POV:

"Mia!" The short burst of hope that the person calling me could have been Seraphina, disappeared as soon as I heard the deepness of the voice. I lifted my head out of the book I was reading, shifting my position in the blue chair. A mop of ginger hair was bounding down the stairs.

"Good Morning Johnathon."

He launched himself at the chair next to me. "Why so formal?" Jokingness lacing his tone.

"You interupted my reading, and gave my hopes up." I said to my annoying brother, shaking my head slightly.

John scoffed. "What could possibly be better than me?"

"Every single thing in the world." I flicked through the pages of my book, attempting to find the page I was previously on.

"So I'm better than everything taken?"

I groaned in pain at my brother's bad joke.

"Oh, come on. It wasn't that bad."

Another voice joined the conversation. "Yes it was."

"Hey, Kat."

John threw his hands in the air. "How come she's so casual with you, but is annoyed at me?"

"Because, I actually like Katherine. Plus, she's my cousin."

"You're second cousin, and I'm your brother!"

"Face it John, Mia likes me better." Katherine sat on the arm of my chair and I smiled up at her. John stuck his toungue out at her.

"John, you're almost fifteen, and you're still doing that?" Maria, Ravenclaw Quidditch Captain, spoke up having heard the conversation. "Get up! Practise starts in 5! Don't. Be. Late." The threatening sixth year strode past us confidently and walked straight out of the common room.

"It isn't just me she scares, is it?" Johnathon asked.

"Nope." Kat said quickly, before hurrying after her.

John and I looked at each other, and reading each others minds, raced each other to the door, not wanting to be the last to get to practise.
