~A few weeks later~

Seraphina's POV:

I stared at the piece of paper attached to the notice board before quickly writing my name under many others. Making up my mind before I could back out.

I exited the common room and almost ran to the great hall, I was so hungry! I slid into the seat beside Derek and almost immediately began eating.
"Oh my gosh, how long have you gone without food!"

"A whole night!"

Derek laughed as I continued to stuff my face.

"So, what's everyone talking about?" I asked, taking a pause from eating.

"Quidditch tryouts of course."

I sighed.

"Did you sign up?"

"I kinda had to if know what I mean? I did it just now. Are you trying out?"

"Nah, I'm not that kind of person, I'd rather cheer from the stands."

"So would I... Anything else?"

"Nothing much, except almost every second year has noticed how weird Charlene's acting."

We turned our heads to look at the girl that had just stormed into the room.

"Yeah, what's up with her?" I asked.

"She spends all of her time in the library and rarely talks to anyone, she hasn't even talked to me!" I raised an eyebrow. "Ok, so maybe she doesn't talk to me that often anyway, but still! I'm worried about her..."

"Look, if you really want to know what's up with her, just go over and ask if you can talk to her someplace else. Then just find out why she's acting like this. Simple."

"I guess I could do that..." Derek looked hesitantly at his sister before putting on a face of determination and almost marching to the Slytherin table. Soon after, Charlene stood up and followed her twin out of the room and down the corridor.

-

A couple minutes later, her friend Ebony angrily came out of the dungeons and sat at the Slytherin table, which was pretty much empty now as everyone had finished breakfast. After a moment of contemplation, I decided to go over to her. She seemed like she wanted to snap someone's neck. "Hi." Ebony snapped her head to look at me as I sat next to her.

"What do you want?"

"To know why you're so angry, I have a feeling it's to do with Charlene?"

Ebony sighed, her hostile face relaxing. "She's studying so much that she's barely had contact with the outside world, not even me! We haven't hung out for weeks! It's like she avoiding me..."

"I'm sure that's not the case, Derek left the room with her a few minutes ago, they're talking about the way she's acting, and why."

Her body was now relaxed, all anger had disappeared from her mind. "Good." A crease appeared on her forehead. "...You know, from the way Charlene talked about you... Let's just say I painted quite a different picture of you." I rubbed my arm anxiously and bit my lip.

"... What does she say?" Ebony's eye's widen slightly like she'd said something she wasn't supposed to.

"-Nothing!"

Chewing on my lip, I frowned. "I have to go, goodbye Ebony." Deciding to let it go, I stood up.

"Bye Potter."

I walked out the room and towards the quidditch pitch where I was sure I would be able to find Mia.
