Seraphina's POV:

I drummed my fingers on the table, anxious to get out of here.

This is such a waste of time!

McGonagall was sitting across from me, staring at me sternly. Neither of us have said a word yet. -I knew what she was doing, she was trying to make me break first.

Well that ain't gonna happen.

My sisters and I would always have competitions about 'Who can stay the quietest the longest' and 'Who can stare without blinking the longest', I was the best at both.

Headmistress McGonagall, if possible, made her gaze even more deadly and angry. All I did was try to hide how anxious I was to leave.

"Kyla Neptune." She finally spoke. "Mean anything to you?"

"She's my substitute roommate."

McGonagall nodded. "She went missing yesterday."

I frowned. "Really? I -..Didn't.. Notice.."

No wonder the room had been so quiet lately.

"You... Didn't notice?" McGonagall said, raising an eyebrow.

I coughed and lowered my gaze, embarassed.

"Well, I have noticed that you have been missing Quidditch -Which many people have complained to me about, apparently you're really good- You've not been paying attention in classes and you haven't been speaking to anyone." She folded her arms. "16 people have gone missing. I would have sent everyone home, but all of the owls have gone missing as well."

"Why don't you just go tell someone yourself. You know, apparate or something."

"The field around Hogwarts that stops people from apparating in and out of Hogwarts has... Spread. No form of transportation is working for anyone who works or is a student, at Hogwarts."

I lent back in my chair. "Christmas Holidays are next week."

McGonagall deepened her frown. "A lot can happen in a week as you found out last year, Miss Potter."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever, what's my punishment?"

"Punishment?" McGonagall asked.

"Yes. My punishment for talking back to a teacher, not paying attention and whatever else you want to add." I crossed my arms, fed up with how long this was taking.

"Well, I would ban you from Quidditch, but as you have shown no interest in it lately... You shall be given detention, every day 'till the end of term and once you come back, you'll carry on for another three weeks."

I glowered at her. "Every day? At what time?"

"After your classes finish." She glanced at a piece of paper on her desk. "Which is usually 5 O'clock. Your detention will last three hours each day."

My eyes widened. "What?! Who with?"

Please don't let it be-

"Professor Potter."

-Uncle Albus...

I slammed my hand down on the table.

"That's an extra day. You can go now."

I glared at her and gathered my belongings, storming out of the room and down the moving stairs behind the gargoyal.

Of course it would be with my uncle.

I looked at a nearby clock.

Thirty minutes.

Shall I even go back to class? I wouldn't be missing much, it's still only Astronomy.

It only took three seconds for me to decide. I strode across the hallway, only to stop opposite the prefect's bathrooms. I lent forwards and positioned my ear against the Music room door. Hearing nobody, I carefully opened the door and tip-toed inside.

My eyes searched the classroom until they fell on a lone instrument.

The piano.

I placed myself on the cusioned stool in front of it and layed my practised hands on the keys. Clearing my mind of everything, detention, Mia, and Derek..., I pressed down with my fingers and a tune almost poured out of me.

I haven't played in ages, with missing my music classes and all.

A small smile even managed to find it's way onto my face halfway through the song.

My fingers lingered on the final notes, letting it fade out. I breathed out and lifted my self off of the black leather stool. I turned around and froze in astonishment. My mouth dropped open. Standing in the doorway was a petite, raven haired Slytherin -most likely a first year. The girl stepped forwards to introduce herself.

"My name's Puella." Her small, pale hand was held out to me. I snapped out of my daze and shook it.

Isn't this how adults do it?

It felt weird shaking the hand of someone almost the same age as me. "My name-"

"Is Seraphina. I know. Everyone knows."

I nodded slowly, tearing my hand away from her's. She seemed reluctant to let go though, and I ended up having it tug it.

We stood there in silence. "Well," I cleared my throat, something about her stare made me uncomfortable. "I should be going, I've got detention." I removed myself from the room and hurried down the corridor, wanting to get as far away from the creepy Slytherin girl as possible. Even as I turned the corner, I heard a small, psycotic, almost proud, giggle emit from the Music room. Like she'd figured out a puzzle.

—————————

I knocked on the door and waited. Someone was inside with Albus, I could hear a murmuring coming from inside. At my tap, the voices stopped and there was a small silence before the door was pushed ajar and Professor Malfoy walked out. I gasped. He looked terrible. His hair was stuck up in all sorts of places, his robes obviously hadn't been washed in days and his eyes... They were grey and glassy, like there wasn't anyone behind them. Uncle Albus had clearly been trying to comfort his best friend.

Albus gave Scorpius a hug, before turning himself to me, as Scorpius stumbled away. At the sight of me, Albus sighed and put a hand on my shoulder. He guided me into his office and closed the door behind me.

Before I knew what was happening, Uncle Albus had pulled me into a bone crushing hug. I squirmed about, usually I liked being hugged and would offer them out freely to anyone who looked like they needed one, but for some reason I was repelled and tried to fight my way out. But he wouldn't let go. I attempt to free myself for almost a full two minutes, before relaxing and sinking into the hug. As soon as that had happened, tears began to fall and Albus was murmuring comforting words to me.
