Seraphina's POV:

Jasper let Charlene go in front of her.

Thank Merlin!

Whenever Jasper hit his head on the low ceiling, Charlene would laugh at him amd greatly annoy Mia and I.

Because she was so small, Charlene didn't have to duck and instead could hold her head high. Mia and I, on the other hand, were taller than her and we had to duck a bit.

Not as much as Jasper though.

The tunnel seriously creeped me out, who knew what was hiding in the shadows?
And after what seemed an eternity, we finally reached the end of the passage and stepped into Hogwarts. "We're on the third floor. I never knew there was a passage way here!" Jasper exclaimed, looking around.

"Quick! Make sure there's no... infected around." I warned and we all ran down different corridors, Charlene staying still as there were only three, making sure that there was no one around. "No one over here!" I shouted.

"Same!" I heard a distant shout from Mia.

"Good here!" Jasper shouted. We all met up again at the statue that had hidden the passage way. "What are we going to do now?"

"Well, we still need some Acromantula Venom." I told them.

"I heard that there's family of Acromantula in the Forbidden Forest." Mia said.

"Right then, as you're so adament that we make the potion, you two go get the venom while Jasper and I stay in the castle, -To prepare it." Charlene suggested.

"Yeah, about that, I can't go get the Acromantula Venom. Someone else will have to go with Mia." I said.

"What? You scared of some big spider?" Charlene teased. The way she said it was like it was some preposterous idea. When I stayed silent, she widened her eyes in surprise. "You're kidding me right? They're just a big insect!"

"Yeah, well, I happen to have a bloody phobia of this insect." I snapped back.

"I heard they are pretty terrifying." Mia shrugged, backing me up.

"It's just a spider!" She exclaimed.

"A family of them! That kill anybody that goes near them if they can!" I shouted back. "I am not going. You go with Mia as you're not scared!"

"Fine. I won't have a panic attack when I see one."

Before we could bicker anymore, Jasper interrupted us. "Right. Mia and Charlene get the Venom, while Seraphina and I find a cauldron and make sure that the castle is safe. Be careful in the Forbidden Forest, that's where the... infected... are hiding out, the dark wizard is probably with them."

"We'll be fine. Come on, Weasley." Charlene said, before striding down the hallway, making her way outside.

"Like she said, we'll be fine." Mia reassured me, and followed after her. I stared after them until Mia had turned the corner.

"Right." I said, turning back to face Jasper. "Cauldron. Let's go get one."

———————

"Why do you and Charlene hate each other?" Jasper and I had just reached the potions classroom and I was walking over to a collection of cauldrons, when he asked me this.

"We don't. She hates me. I don't hate her."

"It seems like you do."

I picked up a cauldron and started judging whether it would be big enough to hold everything. "Well I don't. I just..." Deciding it was big enough, I held the handle and turned around, sighing. "I just dislike her. I did try to get along with her at first, but... she was..." I searched for the right word. "Difficult. Didn't like me straight away, and that was before she knew my last name."

I walked to the door and cautiously peaked out, looking for anyone. Seeing no one, I stepped out confidently and started down the hallway. "Funny thing is, I'm best friends with her twin." I said, laughing sourly.

"Bu-"

"So where are we gonna make it?" I said, interrupting Jasper, stopping him from whatever he was about to say. "It needs to be somewhere near the entrance so we can see Mia and Charlene coming, as well as others, but also have multiple exits. -just in case."

"Umm... I don't know, maybe a courtyard? Or the Great hall? Or the entrance hall?" Jasper suggested, distracted from our previous conversation.

"Courtyard sounds good. One with a view of the forest?"

"Definitely." We both started up the stairs and made our way to the nearest courtyard, the cauldron and bag of ingredients in my hands.

As we reached the ground floor, I heard footsteps echoing off of the walls. I froze and motioned for Jasper to stay silent. As he did, the footsteps seemed to get louder and closer. I held my breath as I drew my wand, carefully dropping the bag and cauldron on the ground. Jasper did the same and slowly moved towards the corner separating us from the footsteps. Once he reached the corner, he took a deep breath in and sharply turned the corner. "Incarcerus!" Ropes flew from his wand and wrapped themselves around a figure. A cry of surprise emitted from the person's mouth and I turned the corner to see who it had been.

"Remus!" I rushed over to him.

"Get me out of these!" He said, struggling against the ropes that had tied themselves tightly around him.

"He's not infected! Free him!" I shouted back to Jasper. The ropes suddenly loosened and Remus managed to wriggle out of them. "Are you okay? How are you not infected?"

"I'm fine, and there's a couple of us that managed to escape the mist when the... Infected, is that what you're calling them? Entered the castle. We don't know where the mist was coming from though, or what exactly happened."

"It's a dark wizard. They were on the train and cursed everyone when the train suddenly started moving backwards."

"How did you escape?"

"Long story. You said there were others?" Jasper asked.

"Yeah! We're all hidding out. It's just three of us though, -not many stayed behind for the holidays in the first place."

"Where are they?" He asked.

"A transfiguration classroom. I left to see if any teachers were still okay."

"We're going to the courtyard. We found a book in Hogsmeade that has information about the curse the wizard used, and it even has instructions on how to cure the infected!" I exclaimed. "Which reminds me..." I turned the corner again, and picked the cauldron and bag back up. "Tell them to meet us in the courtyard facing the Forbidden Forest." I told him. He nodded and ran off.

"You know him then?" Jasper asked.

"Yep, year above me, Gryffindor. We're quite good friends."
