Charlene's POV
I sat inside Dad's office, waiting for him to come out of the other room. He'd sent an urgent owl to me, which I got as soon as I got back from muggle school. I'd ran to his office and he wasn't even here. The only way I knew he was in the other room was by his deep breathing and footsteps. I've learned not to interrupt him when he gets like this. I don't know why he's so anxious though. Everything seems pretty normal.
He finally came into his office and he looked terrible. His hair was tangled, wrinkles etched into his face and the bags under his eyes told me he hadn't slept for days. I'd never seen him look so old.
He jumped a bit when he saw me. " Charlene... right, right. " He said.
" What is it dad? Why isn't Derek here? " I asked, realizing my twin wasn't in the room.
" That's what I needed to ask you. Where is he? Have you seen him? Is he OK? " He said.
" Me and Derek don't hang around together dad. I thought you knew this. " I said, raising my eyebrow.
" Yes, yes but have you seen him around? Surely you've talked at least once this week. " He said.
" I haven't seen him in nearly a month. Last time we talked was like three weeks ago. " I said. He looked uncomfortable, his palms shaking.
" Haven't you noticed him being gone? " He said.
" Well it is a lot more peaceful in my life without him. " I said.
" Charlene be serious! Who do you think knows where he is? " He said.
" Probably the Potters if anyone. Or Granger Weasley. " I said.
" Why do you call them by their last names? You know what, never mind. Get to class, study hard and I swear we'll find Derek soon. " He said.
" Okay. Bye. " I said. Dad left the room again. I could hear his footsteps going in circles and his worried mumbling. I wonder what had happened to Derek.
