Ebony's POV
" For Merlins sake Charlie! Give it a break! " I said, slamming my fists on a pile of books she had nearby. She raised her eyes to look at me.
" What? " She said in her usual icy tone.
" It's nowhere near exams! It's at least another two months for the first one! " I shouted. Thankfully a great deal of people were asleep at this time, all except for me and her.
" Why are you up so late? " She said, avoiding the subject at hand.
" Worrying about you. Now spill the beans. " I said.
" What beans? " She asked.
" Why are you studying this much? I know the exam excuse is complete bs, so just tell me! " I said.
Charlie sighed, and shut the book she had previously been reading. " I'll tell you, just don't tell anyone, ok? " She smirked. I nodded, smiling. Took her long enough.
" Ive been meaning to tell you but.. " She started, drawing it out for dramatic effect. " Got into a really good muggle school. "
I stared at her, dumbfounded. " Charlie... you're not talking about college, are you? " I asked.
She laughed. " Nope! It's a really good middle school for kids, invite only. I just so happened to get an invite. "
" But.. You go to school here.. " I said, still really confused.
" Getting there isn't an issue, and the classes match up perfectly to the spare time I have! " She said. I looked at her books and realized. She wasn't reading up on transfiguration or potions, or anything magical really. She had English textbooks, math exercises and Spanish books.
" How... " I asked.
" Learning how to forge your parents signature is really handy sometimes, and it's all expense payed, so even better! Dad and Derek don't have to know, and at the end I get two degrees! " She said enthusiastically.
" I still don't get it.. it's a muggle school, why are you going? How do you get there? " I asked.
" Well why not? And like I said, getting there isn't an issue! One of the teachers there is a witch so she covers for me! " She said. " I'm even called Alexandria Natalie over there! It's awesome! "
" Wow! Congrats! " I said with a smile. " I guess this means you won't be hanging around me for a while. "
She laughed a bit. " Don't worry, it's just this month that's a bit hectic, things will calm down soon. "
I smiled. " OK then, good luck. " I headed to my dorm. She waved goodbye to me before returning to her books. How does she do it? And why did she seem so happy?
