Chapter 9

After what seemed like hours Ethan woke up. The nurse went in the room to check on him and came out. She walked over to the group of us sitting in the waiting room and said Ethan was looking for a girl named Taylor. I stood up with a smile and walked toward the room.

Hey E, I said as I walked into the room.

Hey Tay, he said with a smile across his face. Do you know who made the pancakes? I want to marry whoever did because oh my God they were the best Ive ever had.

Umm, it was me, I said a little embarrassed.

Ethan just smiled and gave me a wink. I sat down in the chair next to him.

So how are you feeling? I asked him.

Good, Ethan told me. But that isnt what I wanted to talk about.

Right as I was about to respond his doctor came in and said I needed to leave because they were going to run some small extra tests. In suspense. I left the room. What could he want to possibly talk to me about?

We are going to go get some lunch, Grayson told me.

Two cheesy gordita crunches with a pina colada freeze from Taco Bell? I asked him with a convincing smile.

You got it. Might want to text it to me so I dont forget, He chuckled.

I texted him my order. When they left James showed up. He sat next to me and I noticed he looked exhausted.

Hey, you okay? Did you not sleep or something? You look so tired, I told him with concern.

I had a nightmare, he said with tears brimming his eyes. You got in a car accident and- he couldnt even say the rest and started crying.

This made me want to cry. I have rarely seen James cry in the almost eighteen years I have been with him. Apparently, he was a quiet baby, according to what I have heard anyway.

All I did was give him a hug. I told him not to worry I wasnt going anywhere.

James are you okay? Grayson asked showing up out of no where with Audrey and my Taco Bell in his hand.

Yeah, dont worry about me, James told him.

Grayson decided to change the subject. Here is your Taco Bell

TayTay,

Thanks Gray, I said.

James, eat something, here cheesy gordita crunch. I told him giving the taco to him.

Thanks sis, he said with a heart-warming smile as he unwrapped the food.

I decided I could go see Ethan. The doctor left so I am assuming its okay now. I want to know what he wanted to say to me. I got up out of my chair with my freeze and went towards his room.

Hey E, I greeted him waving.

Hey Tay, he said to me grinning from ear to ear. So, where we left off earlier

Yes I said.

I am so sorry how I acted. I was trying to get over you because I thought us was never going to happen. I want it to happen. I was so confused as to why you were pushing me and Gray away. I thought I should just give up. I was dumb for thinking that. I shouldve fought for you and showed you how much I wanted you in my life. I was dumb- I cut him off.

I was the dumb one. I told him.

No, you werent. Anyway will you give me a second chance? I want to get to know you. What your favorite food is, favorite color, movie, candy, weird talents, hobbies, dreams Ethan told him with straight eye contact.

Wow Ethan I dont know what to say except yes. I will give you a second chance for sure. Lets just put the past behind us and move forward. How about I sleep over in your room tonight. We can get to know each other, I will go get some candy and movies from my house. I told him.

That sounds like a deal to me. I get lonely at night. Ethan confessed to me.

Not tonight, I said walking out of the room. I am going to go get the sleepover stuff, I will be back in a little bit.

Okay, drive safe. Ethan told me.

I told James and everyone where I was going. Audrey decided to come with me, she wanted to get out of the hospital. As we were walking out we bumped into Lisa and Sean with my parents.

Hey where are you girls headed honey? My mom asked me.

I told her and my dad along with Lisa and Sean the plan E and I came up with.

Yes. I think thats a great idea. My Dad said with a smile.

That is an amazing idea, E will really appreciate it. Lisa said, and Sean agreed.

And with that I finished the way to my Jeep and Audrey and I got in. I gave her the aux cord and she turned on the Reputation album. End Game blared through the Jeep with Audrey and I singing our hearts out. She knows me too well I swear.

I entered the house and gathered the things we needed for our sleepover. I got Grown Ups, The Hunger Games and Catching Fire. I gathered snacks such as popcorn, Skittles, Hersheys Kisses and Jolly Ranchers from the kitchen. I put everything along with a pair of pajamas into a bag. Audrey decided to stay at my house for the remainder of the day. I told her to text me if she needs anything and then I left.

After a short ride I arrived back at the hospital. Same story different day I guess. I headed straight for Ethans room and I stopped in my tracks. Was he seriously kissing another girl when he just confessed to me? I pinched myself to see if I was dreaming but sadly I wasnt. Thats when he pulled away and looked at me. His eyes bigger than oranges and worry all over his face. The brunette turned around and looked at me up and down with a snobby look on her face.

Taylor come back! Ethan yelled. Let me explain.

I just kept walking. Grayson and James saw me rushing past them and got up to chase after me. I just kept going. I got in my Jeep and sped off. I needed to go back home to Audrey. I got home and went upstairs. Audrey looked at me and she hugged me.

What happened? Did he do something to you? I will punch his face in, she said to me.

I went to go back to his room for movies and snacks and he was kissing another girl. He just confessed to me a little bit ago that he wanted to get to know me and now he does this. Therefore, I dont like to date. I always get hurt in the end. I told her while crying my eyes out.

Its going to be okay, Audrey said. I promise. We have each other, best friends are all you need right now.

Just then my phone rang. It was Grayson, so I decided to pick up.

Taylor let me explain, Ethan said.

I hung up. I am not in the mood to talk to him right now, or maybe ever.
