Chapter 16
I awoke to my iPhone blaring through my room. I got up to see who it was, and it was Audrey.
"Good morning," I said with my groggy morning voice.
"Ethan is getting a plane ticket and coming to find you," she blurted out.
"What?!" I screamed through the phone.
"His plane is leaving tonight at 7pm," Audrey informed me.
"Did you give him our dorm number?" I asked her.
"Uh, maybe," she said,
"AUDREY!" I screamed.
"Okay look, just listen, I gave him that letter. He came down with tear stained cheeks and blood shot eyes after he read it. I told him you just wanted space. But guess what he said?" Audrey explained to me.
"What?" I asked her.
"You said in his letter to search for the one girl that makes him happy. You wanted him to do whatever he could to find that girl. That girl is you Taylor. Ethan could barely get the words out of his mouth. But he said that. You are that one girl and he is going to do anything to find you." Audrey told me. "You will find out soon enough, but he wasn't intentionally trying to push you away."
"What," I said to her.
"Just wait and see. I gotta go, Gray and I are going on a date tonight after we bring Ethan to the airport. Love you." Audrey said.
"Goodbye," I responded.
I hung up the phone and sat there disbelief in what my best friend just told me. Did I really mean that much to Ethan Grant Dolan?
I sat on the couch and just thought about everything. He's a huge Youtuber, I am just a normal girl going to college. I have such a boring personality and life it seemed impossible for someone as great as him to care about someone like me as much as he apparently does.
Well, since Ethan's flight is going to be leaving I guess I should make myself look somewhat presentable. I went through my pile of clothes. I chose a shirt that said, "Not Today" and paired it with some light-washed ripped jeans. I put on my maroon Vans to top it off. I didn't feel like doing much with my hair, so I decided to straighten it. For makeup I was feeling motivated, so I tried. I applied my primer, my favorite foundation, powder, blush, bronzer, highlighter. Then for the eyes I used the Matte Peach palette. Along with my Katy Perry mascara. I looked in the mirror impressed with how good I did. I glanced at the clock on my wall, three o' clock. Ethan was going to be leaving in about four hours. I decided to go for a walk down to a little lunch place on the corner. I went there almost every day during the first few months of attending college here. Once we got more comfortable we would venture off to go other places. I walked in and the usual cashier, Daniel greeted me.
"Hey, I haven't seen you in forever! Where have you been?" Daniel asked me cheerfully.
"I actually went back home but I decided to come back early," I told him.
"I see, what can I get ya?" He asked me.
"Usual," I replied to him.
They knew my order by heart here, a chicken bacon ranch wrap, no tomatoes, extra bacon with a side of homemade fries and a peach green tea. The best meal ever, let me tell you. I sat down at a little table in the corner and waited for my food to come out.
"Here you go Taylor! I hope you enjoy! Let me know if you need anything!" Daniel said setting my food down on the table in front of me.
"Thanks Daniel! It looks delicious," I said to him as he walked away.
Just as I was about to bite into my wrap my phone went off. I looked down at it to see it was Audrey.
"Hey," I answered the phone, "what's up?"
"We decided to all go with Ethan. Gray and I that is." She told me. "Gray wanted to come to LA and I decided maybe I should just come back now.
"That's great I am so happy you're coming. I am just sitting down to eat at the little lunch spot we always went to." I told her.
"That's great! We should totally take the twins there!" Audrey said.
"That's a great idea, I am going to let you go. See you later! Have a safe flight." I told her.
"Thanks! See you later Tay! Love you."
I hung up the phone and started to eat my food. I couldn't wait to see Audrey. The twins too, don't get me wrong I am just worried about seeing Ethan. I don't know what to expect.
I finished my food and said goodbye to Daniel. I took a little detour back to the dorm. I plugged in my headphones and turned on Kid Cudi. Of course, Pursuit of Happiness came on. I love that song. I just admired the beauty of the city as I walked back. The busy streets full of tourists, commuters, taxis, buses. Not a lot of people love the city, but LA was a sight to see.
After half an hour I got back to my little dorm. I can't wait to share it with Audrey again. She is literally my only friend here. I was so lonely and bored without her, but that was soon going to change. I walked up the three flights of stairs and unlocked my room. I plopped down on the couch and turned on Jane the Virgin. A few hours later I look at the clock, 6:30. Then I got a text from Audrey.
Audrey: Hey just waiting for our flight. Ethan is so excited and nervous. Grayson said he's never seen him like this. Anyway, you're picking us up from the airport, right? I booked a room for Gray and me at the hotel next to the college. I figured you guys need your alone time to talk.
Me: Sounds good! Yes, I am planning on picking you guys up.
Audrey: Well, Ethan just called shot gun... talk to you later. Our flight should land at about 10 o' clock.
Me: Alright! Love you! Safe travels
I decided to go and pop some popcorn and binge watch Jane the Virgin for the rest of the time. I absolutely love that show. It never fails to make me laugh. I laid there on our little couch watching my show and eating popcorn.
Time flew by and before I knew it 9:30 rolled around. I got in my car and departed for the airport. My stomach had butterflies. I was so nervous. By the time I got there the three of them were outside waiting for me. I just took a deep breath. I didn't want to face Ethan, but I knew I had no choice.
