"If only thoughts had an off switch."

I was sitting down in front of the desk that sat in the corner of my room. I had the eraser side of the pencil touching my forehead as I sat there in thought. I groaned in frustration at the English worksheet in front of me. Ever since I came home, I couldn't take my mind off that boy who pushed into me accidentally.

Why am I even thinking about this right now?

I turned to look at the clock that was hanging above my bed. 10:30.

Mom wasn't coming home anytime soon. She worked full time as a surgeon in a hospital in the city. She was rarely home, which kinda sucked. Due to her busy schedule, we don't get much time to spend together. My dad was on the same boat. He was a lawyer and was always handling the biggest cases. However, it was also good I suppose since I learned to be independent quickly. I used to have a nanny look after me but as soon as I turned 15, I forced myself to learn how to cook my own homemade meals and eventually I learned to take care of myself very well that she was no longer needed. Plus, my dad always told me that no guy would want to marry me if I didn't know how to cook.

As if I cared either way. I was never really into the relationship thing, anyways.

I yawned and stretched, sinking into my chair. I stood up and walked towards my bathroom to wash up for bed. I was extremely tired. After cleaning up, I plopped down on my bed. I set my alarm on my phone, placing it on the ground besides my bed before lying down and pulling the covers over me. As I began to drift off to sleep, I couldn't help but think of the brown haired boy from earlier.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm. I groaned out of exhaustion and reached my arm out to snooze it. I could barely open my eyes before standing up to start getting ready for school. I changed into a plain white t-shirt and pulled on some jean shorts after doing my hair.

"Y/N! Come and eat your breakfast! It's almost time for school!"

Oh. Mom was home.

"Coming!" I yelled out and grabbed my bag, throwing one of the straps over my shoulder as I ran down the stairs. I already smelled the scent of pancakes from the living room before I entered the kitchen.

"Good morning, Y/N. You look beautiful, honey." She smiled before pushing a plate with two stacks of pancakes towards me. "Eat up. Your father told me to make sure you eat."

"Thanks mom. I'm guessing dad left for work early again?" I grabbed my fork and knife as I began to cut my pancakes into small pieces.

"Yeah, he's scheduled for an early case today. I'm sorry he wasn't here to wave you off for school." I could hear the sympathy in my mother's voice.

"It's fine. It's not like it's anything new to me." I mumbled on the last words.

My mother leaned over the counter, propping herself on her elbows as she rested her chin on the palm of her hands to look at me. "Y/N-ah. You know we try our best to be here for you when we can. Everything we do, we do it so that you can live a good life. You think me and your father like being away from you all the time? Of course not. However, we don't regret doing the profession we do now. We enjoy doing what we do and hopefully we can help you so that in the future you can do something you like doing too."

I took a bite of my breakfast, making it clear to my mother that I didn't have a response to what she said. She sighed before smiling. "Hey, I get a break this weekend. Would you perhaps like to go shopping? Oh! We can get you that PUMA jacket you wanted! Then we can go eat somewhere. It can be like a mother and daughter day. Just you and me. What do you say?"

I looked up at her and smiled softly. "Sure."

Her expression lit up before she leaned closer to place a kiss on my forehead. "Great! So tell me, how's school? Anything new going on? How's Amy? Oooh, any boys?" She wiggled her eyebrows and and winked.

"Oh god, mom. Don't ever do that again. Please." I took a sip of my water.

"Huh, I could've swore that's what the cool kids do these days. You know......wink."

I sighed and couldn't help but chuckle at how adorable my mother was. "Look, I should really get going for school mom. I'm already kinda late. Thank you for the breakfast though." I smiled before grabbing my backpack and headed towards the door before feeling a hand touch my shoulder. I turned to see my mother.

"Have a good day at school sweetheart. I love you."

A smile plastered on my face. "I love you too mom."

Beep. I tapped my card onto the machine on the bus and sat down on a seat in the front.

Normally I'd walk to school since it wasn't very far from my house but since I was running a bit late today, I didn't want to take any chance of being later than I already am. I had a car as well but I never really liked driving. Especially with the traffic and parking. I found it easier to take transportation or walk. Not to mention, I have terrible road rage.

I looked out the window and watched the buildings pass by. My phone buzzed and I checked to see that Amy had texted me, asking where I was. I didn't really pay attention to people on the bus since I always was in my own little world. I also didn't realize that someone had sat next to me as I responded to Amy. I heard that my stop was next so I pressed the bell. Since I was sitting near the window, I had to excuse myself so that I could move out.

"Excuse me." I turned to the figure who didn't seem to hear me.

They had headphones in.

I tapped the person slightly and said excuse me again. This time the figure turned to look at me and when I saw their face, my jaw dropped slightly.

It's him.

He tugged his headphones off and widened his eyes when he saw me. "It's you." He smiled as he spoke, revealing his bunny looking teeth.

I couldn't think straight nor could I move from my seat. Finally I was able to form some words.

"You."

"You're that boy."
