"The route I took, I forgot. I even became quite unsure of who I was."

Jungkook's POV:

I allowed the cold water to hit my face, feeling refreshed and better than before. I slicked my hair back, causing droplets of water from the strands of my hair to fall down onto the shower floor. My muscles felt sore. I had pushed myself too much while dancing today. Not like that's new. I'm planning my audition for BigHit soon and if I want to have even the smallest chance of being accepted, then I'll need to work harder than I currently am. I turned the knob of the shower, dismissing the presence of the once cold water.

I stepped out of the shower, instantly grabbing a towel and wrapping it around my waist. I grabbed another towel and bent my body, letting my head hang so that I could ruffle the towel through my wet hair. Walking up to the mirror of my bathroom, I started drawing smiley faces through the steam on the glass. After I drew enough to take up most of the space on the mirror, I curled my hand into a fist and began to rub the side of it against the reflective surface, allowing to see my own reflection as all the steam cleared off. At least I could say that I loved one thing about myself.

Bzzz. Bzzz.

I shot my head towards my phone, trying to catch a glance at the message that had popped up.

'New Message from Hope'

[ Hey, Kookie, are you free today? I should be arriving in Seoul this afternoon. Let me know. ❤️ ]

I picked up my phone, staring at the text for a few seconds before replying.

My reply felt so wrong and I knew that the decision I was making was risky.

I hit 'send'.

༺༻

How do you tell your girlfriend that you're going for lunch with your ex? Trick question. You don't.

First, text your lover that you'll be busy with the "boys" today. Go into town to meet your ex. She'll be sitting near the window of a small diner, occupied with her phone as she twirls a strand of her hair on her index finger. You walk in, she's the first to initiate a smile along with a conversation when you sit down across from her. She asks how your day is so far; keep it simple and tell her it's going well. When the food arrives, don't ever look at her; girls hate when they're being looked at when they eat. When she brings up her current boyfriend and talks about how he verbally abuses her, don't interrupt. Just listen. Don't bring up the fact that her boyfriend tried to get at your own girlfriend. You start thinking of ways to get her to leave him.

So far, so good, Jeon Jungkook.

When she seems to be close to finished with explaining the conflict, her voice becomes soft and she seems to be trying her hardest at not allowing the tears to fall. She fails. Tear after another, they start to fall. You hand her a tissue without saying anything and she takes it with a 'thank you'. You take her hand in yours and give it an encouraging squeeze, hopefully letting her know that things will be okay. You're not sure if that's true but any sense of reassurance to her is needed at this moment. You tell her that she needs to end this relationship. She refuses and pushes away any of your opinions but you understand. She's scared and that's okay. She says she wants to go for a walk. You comply and pay the bill for the both of you. You decide to take her for a mini drive instead.
