"I'm happy with who I've become."

Jungkook's POV:

"I want to believe that the words that just came out of your mouth aren't real."

"But they are, aren't they?" I questioned my brother who was now standing in front of the bed.

He simply nodded. "She needs to speak with you. She's been surprisingly patient."

"Question. How did she even know I was here?" I asked out of curiosity.

"That's another story for another time. Right now, you two need to talk. Is that okay with you?"

I shrugged. "Well, it doesn't seem like I'm really being given a choice."

"You're not." He chuckled before reaching for the door handle with a long and exhausted sigh.

"Alright, well, I'll come back and visit in a bit. I'm going to grab something to eat although I'm sure the food won't be too satisfying. Hospital food is never good. I trust you'll know what to do."

"Yeah, something I should have done a while ago."

"Smart man, Kookie." He winked and disappeared into the hallway, not giving me enough to time to retort against his silly nickname for me.

"I really wish he would stop calling me that," I mumbled to myself as my head shook slightly.

I stressed the few couples of seconds to myself, trying to prepare for what was to come.

My heart sunk somewhere in my body when the door opened again, sooner than expected, revealing none other than a smiling Hope.

"Surprise."

She flashed her teeth, her dimples sinking in, as she closed the door behind her.

"Wow. I'm so delighted to see you." I said, evident sarcasm in my voice.

A sigh escaped her mouth. "If only you meant it."

She walked over to the chair that was once filled with Yoongi's presence, fixing her dress as she slowly took a seat. "I wasn't really supposed to meet you in this kind of state but I guess that'll have to do. Even in a hospital bed, you manage to look so striking."

"What can I say? It's a natural effect."

She shook her head with a smile, her expression going back to normal not long after. It was the first time she put on a serious face since she arrived.

"I talked to my boyfriend."

My head jerked up in surprise.

"You did?"

She hummed in response, her lips rolled inwards. "He wasn't very happy. Guess that was expected though."

"So," I paused. "What happened?"

"Long story short, a lot of yelling happened and he stormed out of the house. I received a text the night after saying we were finished and that he never wanted to see me again. I wasn't sure whether to feel sad or happy. It's ironic though, huh? I was the one who didn't want to see him anymore yet here he is, saying those exact words to me."

"I can see why you'd feel conflicted. He was still your boyfriend, after all, jerk or not."

This caused her to laugh and nod in agreement. "Yeah, exactly. You get me."
