Elena's POV:

I woke up that morning for school in a better mood than I usually do.

Nobody likes going to school, seeing all the teachers and realizing that you have to sit there the entire day, when all you want to do is be curled up in bed.

But today, I woke up, ready for the day.

I was happy and I wanted to embrace it.

Added to this happy mood of mine, I decided to walk to school since it was such a beautiful day outside and I don't live too far from the school.

I walked straight down the sidewalk that leads to the school and saw it right in front of me, and turned to cross the street to get to it.

Until...

Stefan's POV:

Driving to school in the morning isn't as easy as it seems. I have to struggle to keep my eyes open at the wheel and not hit anybody.

I pull up to West St. which is the street right in front of the school, before I see something that I wish I didn't.

Elena.

Somebody hit her.

She was laying in the street with people surrounding her, but not enough people for me to not realize who the person laying on the ground was, and I knew it was her.

I opened the door to my car and ran my way over to her, fighting through the crowd.

''Move out of my way! That's my girlfriend!'' I said, running through everybody until I finally made my way to the front and stared straight down at her.

Her eyes weren't open, her bookbag wasn't even on her back anymore, she had cuts all over her face, her arms, her legs. There was blood everywhere.

Being a vampire, I can't be around blood or my monster starts to come out.

I needed to fight that feeling so I could get Elena help.

I fought the feeling as hard as I possibly could, and turned around to ask somebody if someone was called to come help.

A patron responded yes and I grabbed Elena's hand to wait for the ambulence to arrive.

I wipped a single tear from my eye as I looked down at her for the final time before the ambulence arrived and they put her onto the stretcher and took her away to the hospital.

School didn't matter to me anymore, and I ran back to my car to be with her.

She needed somebody and that somebody was going to be me.

I ran to the front desk once I arrived and asked the nurse what room she was in.

Room 223.

I ran up to the room and walk in to see her laying there, all still with cuts and bruises everywhere, but she looked a little bit more peaceful. She was wrapped up on both of her legs, one on her arms and had bandages on her face and stomach. The blood was wiped up from everywhere and she looked a lot better than she did, but it still wasn't the best.

The doctor walked in.

''Is she going to be okay? Please, please tell me she is going to be okay...'' I said.

''Ms. Gilbert is going to be just fine. She should be waking up soon, she went unconsious when the car hit her head and possibly could of caused some brain damage. We have to run some more tests on her to make sure everything in her head is okay before we have the final results.'' He said.
