Elena's POV:

I awoke in the morning, but not to the sound of alarm because it was the weekend and I got a break from school, even though it just started a few days ago, but to the sound of my cell phone ringing.

''Hello?'' I said, still a little tired.

''Goodmorning beautiful. I didn't mean to wake you if I did.''

Stefan.

''Oh, no, you didn't wake me.'' He did but I didn't want him to know that.

''I'm sorry I had to call you this early in the morning but I had an idea. Are you doing anything today?'' He said.

''Nope. Not that I know of.'' I said.

''Good, because you know how last night, when I walked you up to the door and your Aunt kind of saw us.... kissing? I felt like I didn't make a good first impression and I'm not THAT type of guy. I was thinking maybe I could comeover soon and maybe start fresh?'' He said, sounding all innocent.

I told him that would be great and he said he would be over in an hour and I hung up the phone.

It's great that he wants to do this, but not this early when I just rolled out of bed and now have to rush to get ready for when he gets here.

I ran to the bathroom and hopped into the shower, washing my body and hair because jumping out and wrapping myself in my towel.

I walked over to my dresser were I got out a light blue plain shirt, and a pair of leggings. I didn't want to dress up and go all out because he was only coming over to regain his first impression.

I dried my hair out and put a little stuff in it to keep my natural curl.

I then walked downstairs were Jenna and Jeremy were sitting at the table, eating breakfast.

''Whoa, Elena, up this early in the morning and dressed?'' Jenna said looking at me.

Jeremy laughed.

''Ha ha so funny...'' I said ''But there is a reason that I did all this, this early... Jenna do you remember last night... that.... boooy?'' I said, trying not to laugh.

''How could I forget...'' She said.

''Well he felt really bad about the way you two ended up meeting, and wanted to come by in a little and meet you again.'' I said. ''Is that okay?''

''That would be great-'' but before she even got to finish her sentance, the doorbell rang.

That must be him.

I walked over to the door and opened it, Stefan was standing there with flowers and a smile on his face.

He handed me the flowers and I told him to come inside.

I walked over to the table were Jenna and Jeremy were sitting and Jenna stood up.

''Jenna, is it?'' Stefan started to say. ''I'm so sorry about last night. I don't want you to think that I'm THAT type of guy that just shows up at your niece's doorstep with her and starts to make out with her.'' He said putting his hand out for her to shake in return.

She laughed and shaked his hand.

''It's Jenna, nice to meet you, Stefan.'' She said.

Stefan and I took a seat at the table, and I introduced him to Jeremy and being boys, they clicked instantly.

We all sat around and talked for a little while, getting to know each other and Jenna and Jeremy seemed to like Stefan already.

Jenna had to get off to work and Jeremy wanted to spend the day playing his Xbox, so me and Stefan went up to my room and layed on my bed, staring at the ceiling.

''Your family is very interesting.'' Stefan said, looking at me.

He noticed the picture on my end table, the last picture taken of my parents & I before their accident.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Stefan's POV:

I noticed the picture of Elena with her parents on her endtable and I picked it up, sitting up on her bed.

I looked at it for a moment and realized that I might of had a chance to save those people in that picture if I would of had more time.

I got to save Elena and I was very proud of that.

I acted stupid, like I never seen the people in the picture before.

''Are these your parents?'' I said. I didn't want her to feel awkward talking about them, but I wanted to bring up the subject to know how she felt about it.

''Um, yeah. Those are my parents.'' She said, looking away.

''Do they live her with you, Jenna and Jeremy?''

''They used to live here, but they don't anymore. Jenna is my legal guardian now... because my parents were in an accident a few months ago.'' She was still looking away. ''Their car drove off the Mystic Falls Bridge.''

''I'm so sorry to hear that....'' I said, now putting the picture down and leaning closer to her to comfort her.

''No need to be sorry about anything. It wasn't your fault.'' She looked up and smiled.

Sometimes I feel like it's my fault that her parents aren't here. I feel like I could of saved them.

But she doesn't know that and I don't want her to know that.

She talked about memories that her and her parents had together for a while, as we laid down on her bed together, my arm around her.

I didn't even notice that after a while, she wasn't talking anymore and she fell asleep.

I didn't want to wake her. I moved my arm from around her and got off the bed. I walked over to her window and stared out it for a moment.

Being a vampire, you can jump off high points and land on your feet, perfectly safe without any complications. So that's what I did, and walked home for the night.
