"We'll start tomorrow," the cold, dark-haired woman spoke with what Hazel assumed was the kindest smile she could manage. "I look forward to working with you, Dr. Daniels."

The dirty blonde gave the older woman a smile of her own—one that was actually genuine—and replied in a light tone, "Likewise, Lorelei."

Whatever smile had lingered on the Chief Medical Officer's pretty face fell at the mention of her first name. "I think it would be best if we address each other in a formal manner, no?"

Hazel blushed lightly, realizing the fault in her actions. She shouldn't have assumed that it was acceptable to address her new coworker by her first name. And she immediately apologized, "You're right, it would be best to keep things professional."

"Yes, my thoughts exactly." Just then, the doors of the medical ward opened and in walked an unfamiliar man. He took notice of the newest Mount Weather resident and his posture shifted. Instead of his original stern-faced, broody exterior, the brunette male sent the two females a seemingly friendly smile.

He made his way toward the doctors, giving Hazel a better view of him. The man was dressed in a faded, navy blue suit and a lighter blue button up shirt. His skin was pale compared to Dr. Tsing's darker complexion and Hazel's creamy one. His appearance was handsome, although the slight ghost of a smirk on his upturned lips made the dirty blonde feet a bit uneasy.

"I'm sorry, Dr. Tsing, I would have come at a better time if I knew you had company," the man said, looking at Hazel the entire time he spoke. The dirty blonde gave a thin-lipped smile and looked away awkwardly, not liking the way the man was watching her.

Dr. Tsing noticed the girl's discomfort and decided to fill the silence by saying, "Dr. Daniels, this is Cage Wallace, the head of security."

This caught Hazel's attention, "Dante's son?"

Cage's smile faltered for a moment before he straightened out his shoulders and said, "The one and only. Now, as much of a pleasure it is for me to be in your company, Ms. Daniels, I'm afraid I must talk to Lorelei alone." She nodded at his words but before the medic departed, she confirmed that she would return the next morning.

As the dirty blonde exited the infirmary, she thought she heard Cage mention needing a new batch for the Reapers. Who the hell are the Reapers?

Deciding not to ponder this question for long, Hazel left to find Maya (the one person she felt most comfortable around). And because Hazel was still new to Mount Weather and had awful navigation skills, the dirty blonde couldn't remember the way back to her dark-haired friend's living quarters. So, she went to the Mess Hall seeing as she was most familiar with it.

When she arrived, she realized that the room was being set up for dinner. With a huff, Hazel turned around. But, she was delighted to see the one person she was looking for, Maya. The younger girl was dressed in a different dress from earlier and her hair was a mess, but her smile was as bright as ever. "Hey, I went to medical to find you but Dr. Tsing said you had left. Sorry I wasn't there when you were done."

"Don't worry about it," Hazel waved her off as she walked over to her, "I managed. But I was thinking about this on my way here—where am I staying tonight?"

Maya gestured for the dirty blonde to follow as she began to leave the Mess Hall, "With me, of course." The medic let out a sigh of relief, happy that she wasn't being forced to live with some random person. She briefly thought about how she no longer considered Maya to be a stranger and smiled to herself. Hazel hoped she and Maya could become just as close as her old roommate and her did—or at least she thought they were close. Trying to think of her ex-roomie was giving her a migraine, so she was happy to bring up a different topic.
