"What am I s'posed to do, Rave?"
The injured mechanic looked over at the boy she had been in love with since she had first met him. Looking at him now, she was not sure why she had felt that way in the first place. Sure, Finn was always nice to her, but why did she accredit him for taking her in as a child? It was his older sister, Hazel, who was her savior.
"Are you alright?" The fourteen year-old asked the younger girl. She had stumbled upon the crying preteen on accident, seeing as she had been trying to escape her clingy, younger brother. "I'm Hazel, what's your name?"
The thirteen year-old looked up at the older girl, wiping her eyes to get rid of the blurriness. When her vision returned to its normal twenty-twenty lens, the Latina introduced herself. "Raven Reyes."
The dirty blonde smiled softly as she squatted down in front of Raven. "What are you so upset about?"
Raven shook her head, not wanting to respond. The older girl sighed before holding out her hand, "Come on." She was suddenly pulled to her feet and was dragged out of the empty hallway that also happened to be a dead end.
"Where are we going?"
Hazel smiled before shushing the girl, "You'll see."
The dirty blonde pulled the thirteen year-old after her, making intricate turns and going down different hallways before coming to a stop. They were in an unfamiliar residential territory, a place that Raven had never been to. She started biting her nails nervously, not knowing what to expect.
"I'm afraid that you've got no choice in the matter. . . but if I have to watch it," Hazel yanked open the door. Inside was a spacious complex that fit the family of four comfortably. The Daniels-Collins family had much more space in their home than the Reyes' did. "So do you."
The older girl pushed Raven into the room towards a couch that was already being occupied by a short-haired male. He was watching one of the two females with wide eyes, not being able to remove them from Raven's brown, doe-like eyes. He was not expecting company, which judging by his apparel was quite obvious. The twelve year-old was wearing a pair of checkered, red boxers and a t-shirt that contained almost as many stains as the dirty coffee table his feet were resting on.
"Finny, this is Raven Reyes. Raven, this is my baby bro, Finn." The dirty blonde ushered the Latina onto the couch before she grabbed the remote and hit the play button. Once they were completely settled in, Hazel muttered, "I hope you like Tarzan."
Hazel had been the one to welcome Raven into her home whenever the Latina's mother decided to drink herself into oblivion and come back with a different guy every night. The dirty blonde knew more about Mrs. Reyes' hobbies than her own daughter did. She protected Raven, and they became sisters. Finn was just there, he never did anything. So why did the Latina convince herself that he was the one who saved her when it was really Hazel wearing the white wings all along.
"I don't know, Finn."
The shaggy-haired male gave his ex-girlfriend an annoyed look. He knew that she was injured but she was not helping. He had just realized how much of a terrible brother he had been. Finn always put others before his sister, while he was her priority. Hazel knew how important family was, he did not.
