"Sorry, I. . . I didn't mean to bring her up."
He cleared his throat before shaking his head and waving her off. "Just not something I like to talk about." Bellamy could have snapped at her, he could've yelled at her for bringing it up, or he could have gotten defensive and shut her out. But he didn't. He did none of those things. She trusts me, I should be able to trust her, he thought.
The dirty blonde nodded before saying, "I lost my mom, too, you know. She died when I was one—so I never got to meet her. I mean, I had my dad and Abby. . . oh, but I guess I don't anymore. . ." The brunette soon decided that Hazel was a way too trusting over-sharer, not that he minded. It was nice to hear about how messed up someone else's life was instead of constantly thinking about his own, as twisted as that was.
Bellamy looked down at the dirty blonde with a frown. Silence fell over them for a couple of minutes before he finally broke it by saying, "Isn't it your turn to ask a question?"
The dirty blonde sniffed before nodding, pushing fallen strands of hair behind her ears as she said, "Oh, right. Um. . . who would you consider your best friend to be? I haven't really seen you with people other than Clarke or Octavia when you're not giving orders, which I guess isn't very often."
The curly haired brunette chuckled before answering, "I don't have time for friends."
"Why? Because you don't have time for hobbies with your full time job at keeping everyone alive?" The dirty blonde asked with a small smile.
Bellamy continued to laugh, "The same could be said for you, doc."
Hazel shook her head, "No. I refuse to believe that. Life would suck without friends. I couldn't imagine not having any."
"Don't go soft on me, Daniels," he jokingly warned. He ducked under a low branch and held it up so Hazel could pass through without needing to duck, which wasn't necessary anyways considering the branch was taller than her, but the thought was nice.
She rolled her eyes in response as the male continued, "My turn. How'd you become friends with Murphy?"
This made the dirty blonde smirk. Bellamy couldn't even imagine the many thoughts running through her mind. He frowned when she started giggling to herself uncontrollably. "I'm pretty sure you said that we have to answer every question."
Hazel grinned over as she finally regained composure and said, "It's a funny story, actually. I'll tell you the short version, it was the most uncomfortable thing. Okay, so we're on the Ark and I think it was about two years ago—maybe a year and a half—when this happened. We sat next to each other in Earth Skills class—we were in prison at this point, back when I still took classes—and it was right before class when I caught him—" She bursted into another fit of laughter as she bent over and clutched her stomach.
The brunette watched in annoyance as she failed to continue with her story. He was sort of amused at how hard she was laughing, but it didn't beat his irritation.
"Sorry, sorry," Hazel wiped her eyes of any stray tears as she apologized, she had been crying from laughing so hard. "Well, I walked in on him taking a leak in our teacher's coffee mug, which, by the way, was the most disturbing thing I have ever seen. He was really frazzled by me because I didn't say anything at first since I didn't know what he was doing, so when he turned around and saw me—everything was out—he let out the biggest shriek. Oh, it was the loudest, high pitched thing I had ever heard. It was hilarious. After that, we instantly became good friends because we just constantly made fun of each other. So yeah, there's that."
The male looked at her, unimpressed. "That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard." He had expected something else, but he didn't know why. How was it so easy for Hazel to make friends?
