The dirty blonde medic squirmed on the bed with excitement. She glanced over at her boyfriend who had seemed to be growing more and more distant as the days went on. It wasn't too long ago that the couple had found out they were pregnant and Theo had taken the news extremely well, which was a surprise in itself. But now, with this newfound distance, Hazel began to think that the curly-haired chef was having second thoughts.
Before she could comment on the frown lines that had temporally seeped into his forehead, her patient gown was lifted to just under her ribcage. Hazel's tan-pigmented skin was suddenly hit with a gel-like fluid that made her shiver.
The couple was in the Hospital Wing at the moment, waiting to see the results of their first ultrasound given by none other than Lorelei Tsing. The doctor seemed to be in a mood, considering her tense and rigid stance. While Hazel did not know much about her coworkers life (which was what Lorelei seemed to prefer), the dirty blonde believed the woman to be too uptight because she wasn't getting laid. And, of course, the bubbly medic did not feel the need to stop herself from speaking her thoughts out loud.
Her words caused Dr. Tsing to freeze up while Theo choked on his own saliva, probably in discomfort from the sudden change in topic.
"I can assure you, Dr. Daniels, that what I do and do not do in my free time is none of your business," came Mount Weather's Head Doctor's response.
But Hazel was bored and because she had nothing better to do, she claimed, "I think that you and Cage would be perfect together. I could so see that being a thing."
The dirty blonde continued to go on and on about the younger Wallace and Lorelei's possible relationship when her boyfriend finally cut in. "Hazel," he interrupted her.
She turned her attention to her handsome, curly haired brunette boyfriend, "Yeah, babe?"
"Enough."
Hazel couldn't help but frown. The chef's words were not what hurt her, seeing as she had been prying into the doctor's life unnecessarily and probably deserved to be quieted. It was his tone and the look on his face that bothered her. He seemed to have taken the what was supposed to be a light conversation, too seriously. Why he cared, Hazel didn't know. But she tried not to dwell on it. "Just trying to make conversation. . ."
"We could literally talk about anything else," he said, rolling his eyes and crossing his arms. The dirty blonde knew him well enough by now that when he did those two things, he was annoyed. But those actions in the past were never directed at her. He usually got annoyed with Diane for yelling at him or with Maya for bickering with him. Hazel was never the outlet of Theo's anger, but this time, she was.
The dirty blonde was so lost in thinking about why Theo seemed so frustrated with her that she almost missed the thankful look Dr. Tsing sent him and the flirtatious wink he sent back. Almost.
Finally, Hazel cleared her throat and interrupted their intense staring contest. The Head Doctor looked away quickly while Theo let out a sigh through his nostrils. With a perfect smile (that showed maybe a little too much teeth), like there were no problems in the entire world, the curly haired brunette asked, "So, what do you got for us, doc?"
Lorelei pushed a lock of hair behind her ear as she scanned the screen in front of her. She moved the metal stick across the lower half of her patient's abdomen before turning to the couple with a smile. "Everything's looking good. Just keep taking these pills and you should be fine." The mocha-skinned doctor began to clean up the supplies she used when a hand grabbed her wrist.
"Wait!" The dirty blonde looked at her coworker with concern. "I want to see the pictures. Or at least the screen. That shouldn't be a problem, right?"
