The dirty blonde's wide eyes met Theo's concerned, chocolate brown ones. "My dad is dead," she suddenly murmured. Unfortunately, the chef did not seem to hear her, and so when he asked her to repeat herself, she ignored him. Instead, she grabbed her key card and swiped it against the elevator pad.
But Theo was not one to be okay with being ignored, so he roughly grabbed her arm and asked, "Are you alright?"
The dirty blonde took a deep breath, "No." She continued on, "No, I'm not okay. My dad is dead, I don't know what the hell just happened, and I don't have any memories of what happened before coming here." That was what she wanted to say, but instead she gave a short nod.
"Yes, I'm fine," she lied easily through her teeth as she ran a hand through her smooth hair. "You should've let me help her. I'm a doctor."
This caused Theo to roll his eyes, "You don't think I know that?" He watched her carefully as she swiped her elevator card again. With a tiny smirk, the brunette commented, "Cute scrubs, by the way."
Hazel pursed her lips as she tried not to blush from the compliment. Obviously, she was flustered by the male but she was also in a strange mood. Everything had just happened so suddenly.
"Where are you going?" the male suddenly asked.
The dirty blonde stepped into the elevator as the doors opened, "I should be getting back to the infirmary, Dr. Tsing's probably waiting for me."
When Hazel clicked the button to Level Three, she moved to lean against the cold elevator wall. She failed to notice—at first—that Theo was waiting for her before putting both of his hands above her head and leaning down. His left leg was slightly bent and between her own legs, gently forcing them apart. She could feel his hot breath fanning down on her forehead and when she looked up, she almost flinched because of the overwhelming intensity of the eye contact. Hazel was breathing heavily, blushing at the sudden proximity of their two bodies. Neither of them spoke, they barely heard the doors close.
"I need to," Hazel interrupted herself by gasping as he pressed more of his body into her own. Her back was pushed even more against the chilled wall and sent shivers down her spine.
Theo leaned his head down further, his lips brushing against her temple, "You need to what?"
She was at a loss for words, it was as if her brain had been completely wiped clean. Any tangible thought was stolen from her because of the male pressed against her. She tilted her head up, feeling hot and somewhat claustrophobic. Everything in her body was telling her to meet his lips with hers but her head was telling her the exact opposite. Hazel was confused. So many things had just happened and now she was feeling so many different things.
The elevator door opened, allowing them to exit to Level Three. The voiceover announced their arrival but they had yet to move. They stayed in their position for a moment longer, and then the elevator doors began to slide shut. But before they closed all of the way, Hazel slid out from under Theo's arms and exited the shaft. He looked over at her in awe and watched as the doors shut between them before he was suddenly being brought to a different floor.
Hazel remained in the same place, her heart beating faster than she could ever remembering it beating before. She could not allow herself return to the infirmary when she could not even control her spazzing heart. She waited in the same spot for a few more moments as she tried to regulate her breathing, and once she thought her heart rate was stable enough for her to be in the presence of others, the elevator doors opened.
And, of course, there stood Theo. It looked like he had not moved either. He was breathing heavily but he did not wait before stepping out of the elevator and pushing Hazel up against the concrete wall behind her. Their lips met, both feeling like they had been waiting forever for that specific moment. The kiss seemed to have lasted hours, but realistically, it was only a few minutes. Theo pulled away, giving them both a break to breathe before diving back down towards her lips and attacking them with his own.
