It was early afternoon in Polis, and the residents of the grounder city were pleased with the nice temperature. Many were outside, moving about the market and going about their regular days. This day was anything but regular, however, but no one knew that just yet.
The ambassadors occupied the throne room once more as they waited for the woman of the hour. Everyone was seated—excluding the two prisoners from Azgeda—in their rightful chairs and spoke amongst themselves. This was supposed to be just another meeting amongst the now-thirteen clans, but they knew it was more special. The Ice Nation's queen would be in attendance, and that would surely cause conflict. After the secret meeting between the delegates the night that Skaikru had joined the coalition, allegiances had shifted and the ambassadors had made crucial decisions regarding the safety of their individual clans. There could only be one ruler, and they were recently convinced that Lexa was unfit.
Because the commander had been unaware of the meeting, she was unable to defend herself and her coalition which was why this meeting needed to run smoothly. Unfortunately for Lexa, that would not end up being the case.
"Ambassadors of the Coalition, today we honor our covenant. The clan that stands against one of us stands against us all." Her words were chosen with the intent of reminding the twelve other delegates of where their allegiance should be. As of that exact moment, Lexa believed that she was still the leader they needed and wanted. She was about to be proven wrong.
The Fleimkepa called out an order in their native tongue, not caring that the ambassador of Skaikru was unable to understand him as he spoke, "Bring in the accused."
Titus waved for the doors to open and as soon as they did, two guards escorted a woman with white paint and scars lining her face in. Her glare was unwavering as her eyes fell on the blonde teen sitting in the chair directly off the commander's left side. The queen's lips were pushed into a thin line as she noticed her son and his fiancé kneeling on the stone ground. Seeing the prince in such an unfitting position only caused her to grow angrier, but she knew better than to make a move to free him. If all went according to her master plan, Roan and Adela would be out of their chains in no time.
The guards continued to walk the Ice Nation queen forwards until she was feet from the commander. She was pushed to her knees, mimicking the position of her son and his fiancé. The three royals from the clan of war held their heads up high as they waited for what was to come. The meeting could go in any direction, and that was a risk that it seemed the queen was willing to take. This left Adela and Roan at a disadvantage because they were unaware of her plans.
"Queen Nia of Azgeda has confessed to the destruction of Mount Weather, resulting in the death of forty-nine members of Skaikru. Wanheda, what say you?"
Every head in the throne room turned to look at the blonde ambassador. This was her first meeting after her clan was initiated into the coalition at Lexa's request. They watched with interest as Wanheda answered, "Skaikru demands justice."
"Ice Nation does not answer to this girl."
"Silence!" Titus quickly put an end to the queen's words. He had lost any respect for her the moment she had turned her back on the host of their sacred flame. "The punishment for your crime is death. Do you have anything to say in your defense?"
From her position on the stone floor, Nia responded, "I need no defense. She does. Today is judgment day! I call for a vote of no confidence."
Not taking her seriously, the Fleimkepa ordered, "Take this queen to meet her fate."
The two guards who escorted the queen in stepped forwards and were about to grab her when the ambassador of Delfikru stood and interrupted, "Not so fast. No Heda no more."
