The set-up

Bright lights at a distance indicated the presence of a small town. I went towards the brightness to find out something about the place. Luckily the lights didn't burn me or make me eyes water. The problem was with sunlight. I went closer and stopped as I heard someone talking.

I turned around to find noone. I focused on the sound and headed that way. If it wasn't for their continuous chatter, I would have thought I was hearing things. I walked for about 200 meters hearing their plans. They were planning a muder.

After a few more meters I saw a group discussing around a table. Something about them made me want to stay and listen. I wanted no part of their muder. I wanted to neither help them no go against them. I just wanted to listen to their plan and go back to my business.

My super hearing made it easy to hear everything hiding behind the trees.

"This plan isn't right. We need to make another one."

"What more do you want? One of us distracts the guy and all of us attack at the same time."

"There are many things that could go wrong with this plan."

"If you keep considering the odds, we can never take him down."

"How about we consider safe options like shooting fire arrows from a distance?"

"Are you nuts? He could dodge arrows easily."

Who could dodge arrows? Unless....they have the speed which u have....

"What if our information is wrong? We could get killed."

"We cannot sit here and no nothing! He already killed our people. Killing out cattle was one thing and killing our people? It's something else. We need to act fast or else we will be as good as dead. End of discussion!", the man yelled before he picked up a bow.

I went the other way to find more civilized people and not potential murderers. All the stores were closed and streets were empty. I decided to return the next day and headed towards the forest. One of the men from the murder plan spotted me and called out.

"Hey! What are you doing this late outside?"

"I..uh...I am new here. I...I just got here". I couldn't think of anything else.

"I can see that. That still doesn't answer my question. It's too late to be alone, especially this close to the jungle. Anything could go wrong. Why don't you tell me where you live so I can escort you to safety?"

"No, thank you. I am fine by myself", I got nervous. I didn't know how I would end up if they found out about me living in the mansion.

"I suggest-", he stopped mid sentence as his eyes went wide, "GUYS! SHE IS ONE OF THEM! FIRE!!"

What? What did he mean by one of them? I didn't have time to think. The others aimed fire arrows at me and I disappeared into the jungle before any of their arrows hit me.

Great! Now I have a bunch of people who are waiting to kill me if they spot me. The lighting wasn't too great. I could be a silhouette for an average human vision. What did the guy see to make him think I was one of them? Who were they? I am not crazy enough to go on a suicide mission just to find answers.

I ran in the forest for a while before heading towards the mansion. I didn't know how long I stayed in the forest because by the time I reached the mansion, the sun started rising. I quickly ran inside and shut the door avoiding any burns from the sunlight.

One thing was clear. I couldn't go anywhere. Even if I somehow find a way to go back to home, everyone would be surprised and suspicious of the changes. How could I explain the burns or my craving for blood? I could hide it but someday someone will figure it out.

After a long debate with myself, I came to a conclusion that this creepy mansion will soon turn into my home. So, why don't I make this place more like it?

I spent the entire day thinking of plans to make this place better. I already cleaned up bedroom and kitchen and there wasn't any room which I would enter in the near future so cleaning is out.

I searched for a store room and hit jackpot! It had a stove, few utensils, a lot of bottles. I quickly hauled all of them to kitchen and arranged them. This stove seemed a bit different. It didn't run on gas. It required me to use wood to get flame without a mess. In other terms, perfect for me.

I waited till sunset to go hunt a rabbit. It took me long enough to find one. I quickly drained the blood and left the body. My run from last night told me about several predators in the jungle so I left it for any weak predators. I stumbled across a few sleepy foxes and decided against waking them up. I wasn't sure if I could defend myself against a fox or any other predator.

Catching a rabbit everyday when any potential predator could harm me was not something I enjoyed. The next morning I went to grab the hoodie that I found in the secret trapdoor. It had a few sun glasses in it. Someone like me lived here and they sure managed to piss off locals.

As I expected, the hoodie and sun glasses helped me block sunlight and I was safe from sunlight. I went out early in the morning to minimise the damage. I circled the compound and came to conclusion that the only exit is the compound gate. I quickly ran into the forest and caught a few rabbits alive and brought them back. I left them inside the compound and went to catch a few more.

It didn't take me long to find ten rabbits and leave them inside the compound. Rabbits reproduce very fast and it shouldn't be long before I stop hunting wild rabbits and start hunting domestic ones. I placed a few water trays across the place and filled them every morning or whenever they needed to be filled.

I wandered in the forest and heard a snarl behind me. It was a fox! It crouched down, ready to attack. I never wanted to test my skills but it was one of the times where I was forced to test them.

It didn't take long for the fox to kick the ground and charge. I dodged it's claws and my nails touched its skin. It winced in pain before charging again. I caught it mid air and threw it on ground with full force. I did a double check to make sure it was truly dead.

I examined its body and it was bleeding from where my nails touched its skin. I was surprised to see my nails causing that much damage. I glanced at my nails before scratching the fox's skin. My nails cut through the skin without much effort. I grinned considering my new abilities and drained the fox.
